Asked before Saturday's game about finally getting his whole team back when Lee arrives, Baker pointed out Kerry Wood and Angel Pagan weren't back.

"That's a big one," Baker said of Wood. "And plus, we miss Pagan too. We miss Pagan a lot."

i'm not even going to bother posting pagan's numbers, but let's just say that if the cubs miss his production, they're worse off than we thought.

it must be nice to have built-in, ready excuses for your inevitable failure. when is this guy going to realize that NO team gets to play the entire season w/ a full roster...ridiculous. and now that bynum and womack (who have contributed nothing to this team) are hurt, he's still got the "horses" excuse in his back pocket. he must love it.

If the Cubs wanted Carlos Beltran they shouldve just signed him in 05.

Sarcasm aside, I like Pagan and I hope he's better than his numbers (not expecting Carlos Beltran numbers of course).

Baker's why this team has had 8 game, 6 game, and 9 game loosing streaks within the last couple years. Whiney credit to other team giving, excuse maker.

There should be NO EXCUSES. EVER! If you had a manager with THIS attitude, you would not see long loosing streaks that the cubs have.

Baker's tactical moves dont bother me too much, but his leadership this year is downright awful. Everything is an excuse and/or there isnt any accountablity in the clubhouse. Leadership is supposed to be his strength, this year he gets an F.

Let Baker have his excuses. What does it really matter? We know better (and I'm NOT being sarcastic). And most of the enlightened baseball world knows, too.

I pretty much agree. I am not going to work myself into a lather over this anymore. It was a good sign that Prior that was in low 90s all night, and topped out at 96 (I think), only b/c it increases his trade value. That's really all I care about at this point....and what the Bulls do on Wed. night.

Trading Prior would be downright silly.

If an injured Pagan was bad, now we have FREDDIE BYNUM ON THE DL! Might as well cancel the season!

God forbid that Neifi Perez ever goes on the DL. Dusty's head might explode because he won't know what to do.

I am so tired of this team it's not even funny.

I still find some of the Pagan injury coverage funny (albeit it mind boggling).

But my absolute favorite was on a WGN pregame show when Hendry said something to the effect of "when we get Lee and Pagan back..." That was something.

I smell a two year contract.

Then you shouldn't have replied directly to the post explaining his suckiness without trying to debunk said explanation (note: this is not possible, as Fred has shown)
