The Chicago Cubs are a Major League Baseball team that plays in the North Side of Chicago, Illinois. The club is in the Central Division of the National League. They are managed poorly by Dusty Baker.

Bold added by me.

Hmm... that's funny. Doesn't say that here, nor did it when I first looked and didn't get it.

Wonder if there's cache issues w/ wikipedia?

I cleared my cache, and apparently the word "poorly" has been removed. Boo.

I didn't get that on it either, but the cache could be it since I looked at this very page 1-2 weeks ago.

Now the word "terribly" is gone. How does Wikipedia work? I know that you can log in and edit text, but does that mean someone deleted the word "terribly" or are there Wkipedia moderators of some sort that monitor edits?

perhaps they try to keep their entries fact-based instead of opinion-based.

Someone is having fun with it...here's how it reads now...

The Chicago Cubs are a Major League Baseball team that plays in the North Side of Chicago, Illinois. The club is in the Central Division of the National League. They are managed by Dusty Baker, and the General Manager is the the highly touted Jim Hendry who has failed to produce any home grown talent that can stay free of injuries. Two prime examples are the oft injured Kerry Wood and Mark Prior. Between the ineptitude of the coaching staff, and Hendry's theory of letting Baker have his free run, this staff was abused badly in 2003 and 2004, and it has shown ever since.

Nice.

The Cubs are one of two major league teams based in Chicago, the other being the Chicago White Sox of the American League. Both clubs are charter members of their respective leagues.

That's a little extreme IMO...

May 20, 2006 - The Cubs and the Chicago White Sox engage in a dugout-clearing brawl in the 2nd inning. Catcher Michael Barrett and White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski collide during a clean scoring play at the plate. Following the play, Barrett grabs Pierzynski and (reportedly) says, "I didn't have the ball, bitch!" and throws a sucker-punch at Pierzynski. Both catchers are ejected from the ballgame, as is White Sox center fielder Brian Anderson and Cubs first baseman John Mabry after they briefly fight during the melee. As a result, Major League Baseball suspends Barrett for 10 games and fines him an undisclosed amount. The ever-controversial Pierzynski is fined an undisclosed amount. Brian Anderson is suspended for 5 games and fined an undisclosed amount. Mabry receives no punishment, but is sent to the hospital after the game with bruised ribs. Finally, White Sox 3rd base coach (and former player) Joey Cora receives a 2 game suspension and is fined an undisclosed amount. Barrett and Anderson are currently appealing the suspensions. Joey Cora serves his 2 game suspension, replaced by manager Ozzie Guillen at 3rd base during the suspension. Pierzynski is a big wuss.

Haha. I think I'm going to continue to check this every few minutes.

It is not uncommon for Wikipedia to get "hacked" into....it happens quite a lot.

The page for Chris Berman was all screwed up a while back due to the "Your with me, Leather" rumors.

What were the "Your with me, Leather" rumors?

And now it reads "incoherently managed by Dusty Baker"

According to the rumors, Berman is infamous for an incident in Scottsdale during Spring Training. I'll let a friend of Deadspin explain the rest...

A friend of mine just told me he’s getting married. When he gave me the news I immediately thought of the time we were in Scottsdale at spring training, because it’s the best pickup story I’ve ever been a party to. It was about nine years ago, and I actually forget the bar. But my friend was seriously putting the moves on this somewhat attractive young woman, who was wearing leather pants and had a leather jacket draped over her lap. They had been chatting at the bar for about an hour, and my friend thought he was in the house. I had never seen someone work so hard for a score.

But just as he was putting on the finishing touches, Chris Berman walks by. And without even breaking stride, Berman looks at the girl, points and says “You’re with me, leather.” And the girl looks up, instantly recognizes Berman, snatches up her jacket and walks out with him, leaving my friend in mid-sentence.
