Didn't they have an 8 game slide at pretty much exactly this time LAST year?

They actually lost 7 straight last year. April 30-May 7.

And wasn't it shortly after that they unloaded Hawkins?

Well the good news is after tonight, the Cubs are done with these 9:00-9:15 for the rest of the season.

All that is left is an 8:05 in Colorado on 8/11.

Everything else is 7:10 or earlier.

The nice thing about the late games is, when they get down by more than a run or two in the third inning you can turn the game off and not feel like you are missing anything.

Mr. All-World Pujols goes deep again for the Cards. That's either 18 or 19 for him on the season. He's near 50 RBI's already too.

Cards leading 2-0 in the 2nd inning.

Hawkins was unloaded in late May.

18.

He's currently on pace for 85 HR's and 204 RBI's and a .330 BA. How pathetic. You would think the guy would at least hit .350.

How about some intensity or fire today? I wish some one on this team had strong enough leadership skills or the guts to confront Jacque Jones and say something like - "You get doubled off on a fly ball again and we're going!!" or to Juan Pierre - "Miss the cut-off man again and I guarentee I wont' miss..."- well, this is family site. Because the person who should be doing these things, Baker, never will.

We need Z to get ejected in the 1st and then go on a bat swinging rampage....maybe turn over the food table in the clubhouse and decapitate a few gatorade coolers

You know what would really help the team win some games? If Aramis Ramirez started hitting singles to right field and busting some heads in the clubhouse. That's what this team needs! More singles and more expression of aggression! If Angel Guzman gets tired after only 120 pitches on Thursday, Aramis should smakc him upside his head and say "Do your job and stop whining!" (in spanish of course). If Jerry Hairston bobbles a ball, Aramis should run across the diamond and give him a flying kick to the face. If Dusty fails to argue a bad call in the 8th inning, Aramis should argue it on Dusty's behalf, kicking dirt and flinging bases.

THIS TEAM NEEDS FIRE! FIRE!!

Maybe we should take George Carlin's suggestion and have some randomly placed landmines in the outfield.

Or how about if you get an out of any sort, a random Cub fan in the stands gives the player a wedgie as he reaches the dugout?

This is good news? I've definitely preferred being too tired to watch recent games.

They actually lost 7 straight last year. April 30-May 7.

They lost 8 in row. August 3-10 last yr.

So pretty much in a full baseball calendar (not counting those off-months) the Cubs have suffered through three 7+ game losing streaks. THREE. This team is incredibly weak minded.
