Cain (with the 6+ ERA) will only throw 8 pitches in the first. Book it.

Well.... he just wasted half of them on Cedeno, no?

Reverse Psychology dude.

Whatever gets the job done, man !!

IT'S THE BLOODY FIRST INNING DUSTY AND HE WAS ALREADY AT SECOND BASE

Yeah, this pisses me off when we do this. And what pisses me off more, is when people don't realize how bad of a play this is. Joe Morgan actually said, "and he was sac'd into position to SET UP THE HOME RUN." That doesn't even make sense.

Come on Walk, drive him in.

So Pierre just conceded that he wasn't going to actually get a basehit?

his standard 4-3 would have done the same thing.

And there would have been a chance (however small) that Pierre would actually get a hit and save an out.

But anyway, we SCORED!

SMALL BALLS RULES!

Well we all know Pierre was going to make an out, so Saccing him makes sense.

No it doesn't. Trying to hit a ground ball to the right side (his specialty) makes sense. At least that way there is a chance it'll turn into a hit.

TOP OF THE FIRST INNING

Cedeno singled to center field

Cedeno stole second base

Pierre sacrificed to the pitcher, 1-3, Cedeno to third

Walker grounded out to short, 6-3, Cedeno scored

Ramirez flied out to right field

1 runs, 1 hits, 0 errors, 0 men left on base

Pulling the ball requires bat speed. Pierre ain't got it.

Wait did Dusty call that, or did Pierre do it? Either way who cares? You guys actually think Pierre was going to get a hit?

Sure he MIGHT have gotten a hit. But I might have won a million dollars in the lottery.

You beat me to that joke.

he is still pretty amazing at grounding out to second though.
