Excerpts from Dayn Perry's view:

What's also encouraging for the Cardinals is what those performance trends suggest about Pujols' actual age. From the moment Pujols hit the major leagues, there have been suggestions that he was older than his stated age. The Cardinals, before they signed Pujols to an eight-year, $100-million contract in February of 2004, performed their due diligence in this regard, and they were satisfied with the truth of his claims. Still, the suspicions persisted. However, the 2006 season, as it's shaping up for Pujols, is a point in his favor.

A wealth of research shows that hitters generally peak at age 27, with a steady upward trend leading up to the age-27 season. If that's the case, then the performance spike that Pujols is enjoying this year, his age-26 campaign, suggests he really is as young as he claims. On the whole, there's been a conspicuous lack of proof to the contrary. The "evidence" backing the whisper campaign consists of the idea that Pujols is too good to be that young and that he's Dominican. It goes without saying how unseemly the latter element is.

I just don't know how they could get away with not knowing the proper ages of players these days. With crackdown on visas and all, I would of thought it would have been figured out by now if he was actually older. That is however the way that most of the players who got caught lying about thier age was caught.

Albert is actually 8000 years old. He is the guy that killed the highlander which explains why he is so powerful.

Awesome

How badly is he hurt? He looked like bonds running to first tonight.

He said he feels about 60% right now. He messed up his back.

Maybe if he quit hitting so many homeruns his back wouldn't hurt so much and Cub fans would think he's classier.

Maybe if Cub pitchers would allow a few more home runs, Derrek Lee wouldn't be involved in collisions at first base that disable him for two months.

Cards Notebook: Pujols is hobbled

By Joe Strauss

ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH

05/04/2006

Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols fouled a breaking pitch off his left ankle during a first-inning at-bat Thursday. He ended the plate appearance by grounding to second base. He limped noticeably running to first before slamming his helmet.

Thursday's game was Pujols' second since sitting out Tuesday because of back stiffness.

Pujols said after Wednesday's game that he continues to experience discomfort in his lower back.

"It's pretty tough when it's in your back," he said. "When you swing, it's still going to bother you. It's still bad, but if I feel 65, 70 percent, I'm not going to sit down. I'm going to do the best I can to help my team win."

Yeah, Pujols hurts his back and Lee cracks his wrist carrying teams. Not that Albert's solely carrying that team. But it sure seems Lee was here.

Whereas we've had Prior injure his shoulder carrying our simulated team, and then get food poisoning from tainted simulated gatorade.

For your sake, here's to hoping Albie doesn't miss much time. For ours, here's a couple of simulated Wood fastballs to the back.

I know he's played through pain before (plantar facilitis), but playing with a sore back can lead to serious problems. I hope the training staff is monitoring him closely, because you don't want him messing himself up permanently.

Not only is that directed at the completely wrong audience, but it doesn't even make any sense.

Whew. When I read that I thought I didn't get it. It was just that bad of a joke, I guess.
