Oh, I'll be at the game on 8/4! Look for the ugly guy with the beautiful wife and beautiful children (who look like the beautiful wife) all wearing black & gold. :-)

I've never understood wearing the visiting team's colors to a game. It's fine to root for your team, but why make yourself a target?

Cubs fans are more docile than Philly fans, but I've seen a beer or two thrown at fans wearing the wrong hat before.

I've never understood the people who view visiting fans as targets. I've been to several stadiums wearing Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks colors. The most I've dealt with is a disparaging word or three. But it's usually the pathetic cowards in a group of cowards who choose to throw something at the smallest opposing fan they can find.

I've been embarassed to be a Cubs fan at Wrigley before. The four guys sitting next to me at a game in 04 were Cardinals fans. They weren't obnoxious. They cheered for their team but didn't rub it in. As the game ends, a drunk Cubs fan throws a beer at them. I've seen stuff like that happen often.

Mets fans, though, are the worst. One example: the Leicester start last year. There were a handful of Mets fans sitting a few rows in front of me, and they celebrated every Met hit like they were shelling Roger Clemens or Bob Gibson, standing up and blocking the view of people behind them while waving a big Mets flag. They got a lot of abuse by the end of the night, and they deserved it.

That might of been the quickest bottom of the 7th inning I've ever seen. Doug Bruno barely had time to work out his phlegm. Edited by ToupeeOnFire

I think some of you guys have way too high of expectations for this current team. Losing our best hitter and most of our starting staff is rookies anything over .500 is great. We stand at 14-11 after today. That is not too bad.

I have no doubt he's pitching a complete game. Duke owns us!

Angel Guzman = Juan Cruz Redux

What does that mean?

Means that he came advertised as the next great thing but can't get it together at the major league level. I know Guzman's sample size is small to this point, but I see similarities nonetheless. Great arm strength but too much nibbling, too many walks, little confidence.

That's about the most ridiciulously premature giving up on a prospect I've ever seen. Pitchers don't show up with all their guns blazing. It's very rare for guys to have much success in their first few games, and it's not rare at all for them to give up lots of walks, hits and runs.

Agreed. The hyperbole around here lately all around is ridiculous.

sorry, I'm frustrated. Of course Cy Young could be pitching today and the cubs wouldn't win (0 runs is a tough way to win)

The Cubs are losing to the FRIGGIN' Pirates, by 8 runs?

A FRIGGIN' change is needed.

LF Murton

2B Hairston

C Barrett

1B Walker

3B Ramirez

RF Same kid who is seating along the RF line

SS Cedeno

CF Pierre

This team needs a friggin' change, cause whateve Baker is doing, is clearly not working.

I'm frustrated, too, and I think as little of Dusty as anyone else.

But changing the batting order won't help much. No matter how they're ordered, they're still the same players.

Hendry (and to some extent, ownership) are to blame for what we're seeing now.

It's not Hendry's fault that DLee is injurred. That REALLY hurts the Cubs offense. It changes everything about it, in face.

...though he is to blame for trading for Pierre and signing Jones. I give ya that.

Exactly. This was a poorly constructed group of hitters, it's not the order. Lee's abscence makes it worse, but really it's just exposing the weaknesses that were already here. Walker's surprising .357/.439/.500 makes up for a lot of what Lee would have brought.

This has been a team with a weak offense for several years now, and it's had the same problems year after year, no walks, and low OBP. And to fix it this year, they decided to go with less power. Until they recognize the flaws in their strategy, and implement a plan to fix them, this offense will always struggle to score runs, regardless of weather, winds or health.

The Cubs are 3 games above .500 after today.

Wow.....15 pitches in two innings. That's pathetic, even for the Cubs. Can't we at least look like we are trying to win a baseball game?

the way we've lost our 3 games, as well as our offense's struggles the last week or so have some cause for concern. Yeah we lost DLee, but our offense should still be able to produce with guys like ARam, Barrett, and Walker in the lineup. Our pitching has been respectable as well until these last 3 losses.

I just think our pen's arms are going to be worn out by the time the stretch run happens because of all of these beatings we are taking right now. Besides Marshall's last 2 starts and Maddux throughout the season, our starters are really only going 5 innings every start.

Has to the be the worst 7th inning stretch I've heard, just as far as being off-key.

Ozzy.

Ozzy was worse, but that was because he's an actual musician, didn't care, probably was high, and didn't know the words.

He wasn't nearly as grating on the ears as this guy, though.

People who have been diagnosed with clinical depression, and are on Wellbutrin (Like myself) should not be Cub fans..

The best part about Wellbutrin is that it has a low risk of sexual side effects - or so I hear

He wasn't ready to be promoted and you've already decided what his career path will be like after 2 big league starts?
