Oh screw you, man.

They were wining and didn't draw...and their fans are the greatest?

After a couple quotes and below average play ... 20 games into the season.

Ok...

"A couple quotes" is quite the sugar coated version of the story. He's whining and complaining about Cubs fans while pining for the good ole days of no fans in Minnesota.

Sorry, I just work there. Derrek Lee castigated the fans for unnecessary booing last year, and that didn't stop them. Cubs fans have always considered themselves the most loyal in baseball, if not all of sports. Now they're just like Philly fans, waiting to pounce on the first player who doesn't live up to their expectations.

Note to Village Idiot and hack Paul Sullivan-

Cub fans used to be ripped for just going to games to drink and watch Sammy. Now that we have standards and expectations, and get on a player for being terrible, we're getting compared to Philly fans? What's even funnier is that you'd be all over the fans for accepting terrible play.

You're a hack. Get off the Cubs beat if all you are going to do is pursue your smarmy, Cub-hating agenda.

Sincerely,

Me.

So you weren't at all upset by those remarks? He knew the fans here could be rough especially since we've come to expect some success. You simply can't come to a city like Chicago and expect fans to forgive you when you perform poorly. He talked to Hawkins and knew the facts before he signed here. Now he blames the fans for not supporting him and implies that we're not here "through think and thin" like the Minny fans. The same Minny fans that support their teams so well that they were considered for contraction.

A couple quotes indeed.

Sure it made me upset, but to claim "I am done with Jones" is certainly not my attitude.

Not only that, but we will be Cub fans long after his playing days are over.

As Cub fans we've been here through thin and thinner because there hasn't been any thick.

Please ask to be traded Jock.

Jock should have known a couple of things about the bleachers before signing with the Cubs:

a) You will hear 90% of what is yelled onto the field

b) Many fans go there just so that they can yell stuff onto the field

c) Fans love players that acknowledge them

d) Players that suck and do not do ANY interaction with the fans will get yelled at

Now I'm not suggestion that Jock is obligated to smile and wave at the fans a la Sammy. In fact, I don't blame him for not doing so. But don't be ignorant Jock (yes I know its spelled Jacque). Realize that the fans in the bleachers are of a certain breed, and demand certain things. If you do not do what they want, you will get booed and jeered. Not saying its right, but its been going on for decades and is not going to change because you have a thin skull. Jock does not acknowledge the fans. If fact, he'd rather have Juan Pierre throw the balls after warming up each inning so that he does not have to turn around and face them. In fact, he pretends like the fans aren't there. Which again, I am not saying is the wrong thing to do. It's just how it is.

It doesn't mean you can't enjoy your time with the Cubs, just suck it up and realize that there are fans that care and aren't necessarily ready to boo you at a moments notice. Heck, most of the fans in the bleachers don't really want to boo you, its the nature of the beast that is the bleachers. People are sheep, they will do what they can to fit in.

Oh and to continue my above list. One thing you should have known about the bleachers:

e) NEVER complain about the fans in the bleachers.

Good luck tonight Jock, you'll need it.

This is ridiculous. Cubs fans are the best and most loyal in all of sports, college or pro, and if Jock's going to go off on them, then he should be booed every single time he steps to the plate. Todd Hundley-style.

One thing new players need to understand is that if/when you get booed, its not just about you. Its about management. No Cubs' fan I know was happy that JJ was signed this offseason, so he had to win us over. Instead, he went into a slump and fans who want to go to the ballpark have one way to let Hendry and MacPhail know it...to boo Jones. This isn't the guy we wanted, heck...most of us would rather have had "adventures in Right Field with Burnitz" then the glove of JJ.

Now he bad mouths Cubs' fans. Well, when I get the chance to see JJ in person when he comes to NY, I'll endure the looks of those around me as I boo him as mercilessly as I did Alou when he didn't break a jog for an entire three game series in September of 2004.

I don't think it is a slump, I think what we've seen is prety much what we are going to get.

Not once have i personally said that booing is the problem. What concearns me is the ' all kinds of stuff' that is being said. Its not just going to be you suck is it?? we all know what the guys hinting at and if it is verbal abuse its unacceptable however i never moaned about booing its part of the right of a fan........

from cbssportsline.com:

The right fielder has struggled at the plate, hitting .209 with three homers and eight RBIs, and the fans had been showing their frustration by booing Jones.

"I tried not to pay attention when things are bad," said Jones, who joined the Cubs in January as a free agent. "It's so loud and so angry right now. You know what I mean? It's almost funny."

What's not funny, Jockstrap, is your abysmal offensive play. Shut up and quit crying like a little girl.

You mean the whole bad, bad, bad, bad, 3R-HR routine?

It's very AGone-ish, if you ask me. Not that I think it's bad---I'll take the 3 run jacks any time I can get them of course.

I don't blame Jacque Jones for being a little critical of the fans. He has been booed since since Game #3 (the first home game) of the season. After 2 games the "faithful" had seemingly already decided that this guy was a "bum". It seems strange to me that fans could boo and reign down criticism upon a guy and then after he hits a homerun they want a curtain call. His comments weren't that harsh, people seem to be looking for reasons to hate him. He said he thought the reaction of the fans is "funny", and I agree with him. Boo a guy and then want a curtain call when he hits a HR? What, are we bipolar? Juan Pierre doesn't even get this harsh of treatment and we expect more out of him. Just because JH didn't make the moves that us fans deemed "enough" to help the team doesn't give the fans a reason to boo a guy from the begining.

Everyone decided he was a bum before he got here. They weren't basing it on two crappy games or 25 crappy at-bats.

Furthermore gocubs1982, why are you acting as if all the fans act as 1? You're saying that 40,000 people collectively booed him from game 3 on, and that those same people went to all the other home games, booing whenever possible, and then those same 40,000 collectively asked for a curtain call. I think what's more likely is about 10-15 drunk idiots said some rude things out there, Jones heard them, and lumped them together with people who booed after he repeatedly flailed at first pitches that were outside only to ground out to 2nd, and decided all Cubs fans treated him like crap from the beginning.

Actually, as stated above, I did say "seemingly", but yes it is a logical fallicy to generalize, but from the home games I have watched(all but one), this has been the theme. There was a thread earlier this year after Jones had 13 at bats and people were saying that we should boo him. Now you can argue and I would agree it is not all Cubs fans that are at fault. However when Jacque was making those comments I'm sure he wasn't saying ALL Cub fans are doing that, and I'm not saying that either. I'm saying there are a good amount of people who are doing it, and I don't think it's right. Just one guy's opinion!

Woah, woah, woah. Burnitz played Gold-Glove caliber defense last year. And he really gave it his all every single day on the field. He ran through each single and groundout and really gave 110% every day. Don't be bashing Burnitz! When he comes to Wrigely, I'm gonna cheer really loud. That guy earned my respect.

Which brings us to Jacque Jones. Yeah, we're probably being a little rough on him, considering Aram isn't doing any better this year, but that guy has been sucking it up recently. When you swing at the the first pitch after a four pitch walk to the guy in front of you, and it was out of the zone, that's just inexcusable.

What else is inexcusable is Jacque saying Cubs fans aren't there "through thick and thin". Cubs fans? Aren't there through thick and thin? How much thinner can it get?!

I'm no mind reader, but what I think he's trying to say there is that Minnesota fans weren't so quick to turn on him and boo him like Cubs fans have so far(again speaking in generalities). Obviously we've been through plenty of thin, I think we as Cubs fans are frustrated and are real quick to take it out on people, fair or not.

if he didnt want to be criticized, he should have taken the 15 mil from KC and played in oblivion for the next three years.

its like he almost doesnt know that he is a terrible player.

Yeah I realize that's what it meant, it just seemed a funny accusation to make against Cubs fans. IMO, Jones still has to prove to me he's worth the money. He signed a 3 year deal, and has to earn my respect. Whining in the newspapers is not the highway to this destination.
