  1. SQUEEEZZZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Ronny made a wide throw again but good stretch by Todd.
  3. Marshall just needs to not give pitches away when he gets head in the count and he'll be okay.
  4. hey cheapseats, thanks for the welcome and comments. I agree that if anyone should be drawing the criticism it should be JH and not Jacque but that's how it goes. I really think JH knew what he was getting(as we all did) when he signed Jacque to his contract. Now Jacque is a career .280 hitter averages about 25/80 with a .330ish OBP, although admittedly he has worse than mediocre the last two years (.249, .251). When I was referring to the 200 abs I meant are we gonna see the Jones of the last two years, or the Jones that can hit .275-290, with a .330 OBP with 25hrs and 80rbis. If he can do that I think he certainly would be worth the money. Many people are not optimistic and I would suggest to them to wait before deciding. I just dont' like seeing Jones getting the Neifi treatment from some people when he's only played 14 games in a Cubs uniform.
  5. I agree, it is a vicious cycle. He's played 14 games, in his first 7 games he was bad, but in the last 7 he's 7/21(.333) with 2hrs and 5 rbi's. For those who's said he's terrible have reason for some optimism. Another thing is, if people think he's terrible, then why boo him? Usually boos come when you expect more from a guy who's underproducing. I think you can make a stronger case that he's bad after he's had 200 abs or so. I mean he's clearly not as bad as the first 7 games, and maybe not as good as the last 7. Obviously we're gonna have this guy for 3 years barring trade, we might as well give a chance before condemning him.
  6. I'm no mind reader, but what I think he's trying to say there is that Minnesota fans weren't so quick to turn on him and boo him like Cubs fans have so far(again speaking in generalities). Obviously we've been through plenty of thin, I think we as Cubs fans are frustrated and are real quick to take it out on people, fair or not.
  7. Everyone decided he was a bum before he got here. They weren't basing it on two crappy games or 25 crappy at-bats. Furthermore gocubs1982, why are you acting as if all the fans act as 1? You're saying that 40,000 people collectively booed him from game 3 on, and that those same people went to all the other home games, booing whenever possible, and then those same 40,000 collectively asked for a curtain call. I think what's more likely is about 10-15 drunk idiots said some rude things out there, Jones heard them, and lumped them together with people who booed after he repeatedly flailed at first pitches that were outside only to ground out to 2nd, and decided all Cubs fans treated him like crap from the beginning. Actually, as stated above, I did say "seemingly", but yes it is a logical fallicy to generalize, but from the home games I have watched(all but one), this has been the theme. There was a thread earlier this year after Jones had 13 at bats and people were saying that we should boo him. Now you can argue and I would agree it is not all Cubs fans that are at fault. However when Jacque was making those comments I'm sure he wasn't saying ALL Cub fans are doing that, and I'm not saying that either. I'm saying there are a good amount of people who are doing it, and I don't think it's right. Just one guy's opinion!
  8. Put me down for AB #47
  9. I don't blame Jacque Jones for being a little critical of the fans. He has been booed since since Game #3 (the first home game) of the season. After 2 games the "faithful" had seemingly already decided that this guy was a "bum". It seems strange to me that fans could boo and reign down criticism upon a guy and then after he hits a homerun they want a curtain call. His comments weren't that harsh, people seem to be looking for reasons to hate him. He said he thought the reaction of the fans is "funny", and I agree with him. Boo a guy and then want a curtain call when he hits a HR? What, are we bipolar? Juan Pierre doesn't even get this harsh of treatment and we expect more out of him. Just because JH didn't make the moves that us fans deemed "enough" to help the team doesn't give the fans a reason to boo a guy from the begining.
  10. I agree. This isn't last years team. The difference this year is we really dont' have to rely so much on the long ball. The top and bottom of the order can get the job done too, and if Aramis can start hitting a bit I think we can be okay without D-Lee for awhile(obviously not any longer than 6 weeks) It really helps that we've gotten off to such a good start. I'd like to see Murton move up the order. He was great at the end of last year and he's been great so far this year. Pierre Walker Murton Ramirez Barrett Jones Cedeno Hairston Now we aren't gonna be world beaters, but we will manufacture runs. For now i will pray that D-Lee will be back soon!
  11. I've had a similar wrist injury in gym class in high school. The good news is the injury wasn't caused by a FOOSH(falling on outstretched hand) mechanism, meaning a break is not likely. However, sprains can be just as bad depending on the severity. The sprain will cause a loss of strength in the wrist, which will effect his power and most likely his ability to hit an inside pitch. If i had to guess, I would say he's out about two weeks, as long as there is no break or fracture. Then a full month before he's back to 100%.
