Come on Z. You could have done at least ONE thing right tonight

He's struck out NINE!!!!!!!

It's not about the strikeout. He's pitched poorly overall. I don't buy that this was a "quality start." He made some poor decisions on the mound and allowed himself to be beaten by their few good hitters (namely Cabrera).

Well then maybe you should go and redefine QS. Because he's had one. I didn't say he didn't make mistakes, but he's got a few.

Our offense needs to stop swinging at 1st pitches.

No, you said he struck out 9 as if that was a sign of quality. My point was that he made key mistakes that led to runs scored.

he's struck out 10 and given up 3 ER. Quality start whether you buy it or not.

It doesn't matter what we call it, walking guys and giving up homeruns and doubles, right afterwards, isn't smart pitching. It's like he looses his concentration on the mound.

Maybe he didn't lose his concentration. Maybe he was beat by a good hitter.

How bout 7 innings, 3 ER, 11 ks? Still a "poor" outing?

Perfect? No. Poor? Of course not.

He's admitted to losing concentration on the mound a few times already this year. Also, once a walk is issued, it would be nice if he would work hard on getting the next man. If these were better hitters this game would have been busted open. Remember, he walked a guy on 5 (?) pitches after giving up the 3rd run but was able to rally and Rothschild had to run out to help him refocus. If he were pitching against a better team this could easily be a larger deficit.

so you base your argument on what would have happened against another team even though you have no clue what would have actually happened. In case you're not watching, he's had sick sick stuff with a few mistakes.

You're twisting my position.

No i'm rewriting your position. "If he were pitching against a better team he would have an easier defecit". You're talking about a hypothetical situation and criticiszing Z based on that, and that's plain crap.

No, it's crap that you chose to only respond to part of my posts. I already pointed out particular instances where I thought he made mistakes that led to runs. There's nothing hypothetical about that.

You said he pitched poorly overall. 7 IP, 3 ER, and 12 K's is not poorly. I think that opinion is just about the most ridiculous thing I've heard. End of my dialogue in this discussion.

End of dialogue? Well I guess you told me professor. It's ridiculous that you just look at the line.

It's great that you guys are having a debate about quality starts and all, but can you stop quoting each other? It's getting to be half a page long.

Z has the stuff but he did give up 3 runs to a rookie team. It doesn't help when our offense doesn't show up though.

HE GAVE UP A HOMERUN TO MIGUEL CABRERA, NOT EXACTLY A ROOKIE.

SO THE HELL WHAT!!! HE STILL GAVE UP 3 RUNS!!

Your whole point was how he gave it up to a rookie team, sweetpete called you out, so you stepped back.

They may be mostly Rookies, but don't act like they're a bunch of Neifi Perez and Freddie Bynum wannabes. The other run, a double by Willingham, who is pretty damn good, that scored Cabrera. So we are being beat by two really good players and a lefty that the offense made look good. I guess Z is to blame for that too.
