I saw Bruce lurking, maybe he has some ideas of where/when Woody is headed? And good luck Vance! Have you gotten Woody's autograph? If so, what's he like in person?

I've gotten Wood before, but without much interaction.

I just laughed out loud.

You almost have to wonder if this sentence was written this way on purpose.

Is there any chance of Wood rehabbing with the Jaxx when they visit the Missisippi Braves May 7-10?

If he's expected back with the cubs around the 12th I'd say a May 1st and May 6th Rehab Start....

I'm hoping to see him on the 7th...but if not, oh well.

Do you think he'd really be going anywhere where he'd have to travel alot?

Well, Prior made a rehab start in 2004 in Albuquerque, so a road location isn't necesarily eliminated.

Uhh...he did when the I-Cubs played the Isotopes in Albuquerque, NM.

This isn't to say that teams wouldn't rather have their star player rehab at a home park, but they'll do what's best for the player's rehab schedule.

Gotcha - what I meant was didn't he just go and meet up with the team in Alberquerque - wasn't that his first rehab start?

Regardless, it's fun to be talking about one of our 3 all-stars coming back soon!!!!

No, it wasn't - I remember he had at least one at low-A Lansing before getting to AAA.

According to WGN Radio, Wood will throw 4 innings against minor leaguers in Mesa on Tuesday. His rehab assignment could start after that (as in a week from Saturday). Prior threw 40 pitches on Wednesday and will throw 3 innings and hopefully 60 pitches in his next batting practice. If he gets up to 60 pitches next time out, I'd imagine he'd throw to minor leaguers in a game situation in Mesa like Wood is doing.

You don't want people here dictating your

thoughts and emotions and neither do the rest of us.

Then, we should get rid of the emoticons immediately.

How do they dictate anything?

the latest I've seen, nothing new, except it doesn't sound as optimistic

Kerry Wood is still a couple weeks away from returning, at least, and Cubs manager Dusty Baker doesn't want to rush him, according to MLB.com. "No, you have to think about the big picture," Baker said. "You have to think about what's best for us and what's best for Woody at the same time. You don't want to rush him back and he ends up going on the DL for some reason."

re the bolded part above....no you don't. with Prior sure, but not with Wood. his contract expires at the end of the year. get him out there ASAP, get out of him what you can, decline the option.

I'm all for painting the impression that the organization considers the best interest of the player, but not here. get him on the mound yesterday. if he blows out his arm again, that's his/his next team's problem.

Nice, real nice. I hope you're never in charge of anything anywhere.

Unless they plan on keeping him. Then that's not a real smart plan.

Wood has milked this organization long enough. No way this team should consider anything for Wood except a bus ticket out of town next year. No wonder he is being kept away from the team and especially the clubhouse/dugout. The team knows that having the younger players look at such a chronically injured albatross can do nothing but instill the wrong work ethic attitude. Better he throw his funny towel drills and make believe 5 inning games in Arizona, far away from the 'real' players.

Yes, I'm sure that's exactly why Wood is rehabbing in Arizona instead of Chicago.

You could say that about Prior but not Wood. I've been frustrated with Wood's injuries but at least they required surgery and long rehab. Nobody would want that to happen to them, and you can't really question the legitimacy.

Unbelieveable. The guy has had 2 MAJOR injuries, both requiring surgery and a long rehab, and this translates into milking the organization? Give me a break.

And it was the Cubs decision, not Wood's, for him to throw in the bullpen last year instead of having surgery. He could've been back by now if the Cubs had planned accordingly. But yeah, Wood's milking it...

I don't advocate doing anything malicious, but I don't think hurrying him along at this point would be malicious. they say they are just building up arm strength at this point, but throwing 40 pitch pen session after 40 pitch pen session, then having 4-5 60 pitch sessions, next it will be 3-4 rehab starts instead of 1-2. at this point it doesn't appear to be building up arm strength, it appears the Cubs are babying a guy who shouldn't be in their future plans anyway. if his arm isn't going to hold up by increasing his pitch count 10-15 pitches each time out, it's not going to hold up.

but I'm sure he and his future team will keep how well the Cubs cared for him in mind....oh, that's right, they won't give a damn. there is nothing to be gained by this organization keeping the future of Kerry Wood in mind, unless, like you say, they plan on keeping him...but planning on keeping him is not a real smart plan.
