Anybody else heard anything regarding Lee's injury other than what was reported on the SCORE or 1000? I don't hear either one of them, but I find it strange that they've reported something that I haven't seen on ESPN website nor cubs.com.

Chicago Tribune:

Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee suffered two broken bones in his right wrist during Wednesday's collision with Rafael Furcal and is expected to be in a cast for up to six weeks.

Lee could miss the next two-three months with the injury, which came on a freak play during the seventh inning of Wednesday's 5-4 win in Los Angeles.

He suffered a fracture of the distal radial bone and the distal ulna bones while trying to brace himself from Furcal, who was charging towards the bag while beating out a bunt.

Lee flew to Chicago Thursday morning and was examined by Cubs team physicians. He'll be placed on the 15-day disabled list on Friday, when the Cubs announce a minor-league call-up to take his roster spot.

why is everyone assuming the cubs are going to make a deal? it's going to be neifi and 2b and walker at 1b (and a really, really bad offense).

Cincy has no reason to trade Dunn anymore. There's no longer too many outfielders, and their team seems more than happy to have Hatteberg/Aurilia at first.

You don't think they would do it for Prior and Pie? Thats not a crazy move, the major league team loses only the potential of what those two could do. They could both fail to meet expectations too. Dunn or Cabrera are consistent and healthy offensive forces. This team would have the best offense in the NL when Lee comes back.

But the Cubs wouldn't trade Prior and Pie for Dunn.

I would target Meinkeyechart from KC, and/or Tony Clark from AZ. The cost to get either shouldn't be awful.

I think Tony Clark might be a good idea, AZ. is playing Conor Jackson at 1B pretty much every day now, they told him before the season they werer going to try to get him as many at bats as possible and kind of platoon him with Jackson but Jackson has been so good that Tony's basicly just rotting on the bench. Tony is not Lee but he would be a better option than what we currently have and he shouldnt be that hard to get.

Hopefully Neifi can save us again this year. Can he play 1b?

That line never gets old.

Really, it doesn't.

Honestly? Not any time soon... at least not until Prior comes back throwing well and proving he is healthy (for the time being at least).

If I was Hendry, the first thing I'd do after this weekend series is call Florida about Cabrera, and Cincy about Dunn. Since they both play multiple positions (and I'm not that partial to Pie anyways), I'd be more than willing to include Pie in the deal.

I think Pie and Prior could get either of those right now.

Yes, they could.

That doesn't mean it is a trade that should be made.

Talk about a knee-jerk reaction.

clark's contract is for 2 years. i don't want him.

Cincy might take that, but no way Hendry offers Prior and Pie for Dunn. I'm not sure Hendry sees the value in Dunn.

Why would you deal Prior to a team trying to keep payroll low (Florida)? You don't deal a guy like Prior within your own division (or Dunn). That doesn't help our team. At best we come out even.

Thanks. I hadn't read that in the Trib earlier.

Florida dealt for Piazza in the same situation. They could just wait for Prior to get hot and trade him for something else this year if they wanted.

Because Hendry has been known to make moves when we need help? Ramirez, Lofton, Simon, Karros, Nomar...ring any bells? I don't doubt that Hendry is going to make a deal. Plus, he doesn't make the lineups, so don't assume that he is content with Neifi starting at 2B every day. I have full faith in Hendry. It's the man wearing the #12 that I worry about, but if Hendry gives him better players than Neifi, I'm not that worried.

Huff goes on DL; could be out 4-6 weeks

Associated Press

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Tampa Bay placed third baseman Aubrey Huff on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a left knee sprain.

Huff could be sidelined four to six weeks after he bumped into shortstop Nick Green near the bullpen while chasing a foul popup Tuesday night. Huff's leg appeared to land in an awkward position before he fell to the ground. He was able to walk off the field.

"There's nothing you can do about it," Huff said. "A freak accident. It's pretty stiff today. It's tough to be really mobile, move around. This morning was pretty tough."

Huff underwent X-rays and an MRI Tuesday night.

"It's disappointing, but at the same time, there are worse things in life," Huff said. "Last night they were thinking maybe I tore something. To wake up this morning and find out it's just a sprain is great news. You've got to look at things in perspective."

Huff is the third member of Tampa Bay's starting infield to be hurt this season.

Shortstop Julio Lugo is on the disabled list with an abdominal strain and is expected to be out until at least April 19.

Second baseman Jorge Cantu was out of the lineup for the fifth straight game Wednesday with a bruised left foot. He could be used as a reserve and might be ready to start Thursday.

Enough with the Huff suggestions!

I just hope the Cubs now don't try to rush Wood and Prior in some misguided attempt to "save the season".

I'd see what it would take to get Huff. But GM's won't be shedding any tears for the Cubs.

Isn't Huff hurt?

What about Ross Gload from the White Sox? Or inquire about Choi from the Red Sox?

How much per year? He really had a good year last year and would be a nice stop gap. Maybe the D-backs would eat some of the contract for a decent pitching prospect.
