How does this happen EVERY F@#$ING YEAR?!!? I mean seriously, we were even off to a good start this year. I was feeling positive. I felt the 'quiet confidence'.

Who loves the sun

Who cares that it makes plants grow

Who cares what it does

Since DLee broke his wrist

I will forever hate Rafael Furcal. First signing with the Dodgers when he repeatedly said it wasn't about the money and courting us for months. Now this. He will be forever on my black list.

I hope the Cubs don't get Sweeney, not with that contract. Where do they move him when Lee does return?

Try him in LF with Murton in RF.

People who have seen the Royals play can correct me, but I had the feeling that Sweeney was on his way to DHing, let alone moving to a more rigorous defensive position than first base.

Well, it would just be for the rest of this season. You know he would do anything he could to improve since he'd finally be playing for a contending team. If he really bad, you could just put Lee in the outfield and he'd probably even be a slightly above average OF and has the range. Worst case, we dump him on the Yankees whenever we are done with him.

If I was Hendry, the first thing I'd do after this weekend series is call Florida about Cabrera, and Cincy about Dunn. Since they both play multiple positions (and I'm not that partial to Pie anyways), I'd be more than willing to include Pie in the deal.

Does anyone else want to fly to LA and beat the crap out of Rafael Furcal?

Me. I hope when he comes to Chicago he gets one of the worst receptions ever. I'm of course kidding about the punching him, but I hope the fans boo him louder than Jim Edmonds, anyone on the New York Knicks, Detroit Red Wings, or Kansas Jayhawks have ever been booed.

I think Pie and Prior could get either of those right now.

The one possitive that might come out of this is that the Cubs are so bad that Baker is not resigned and the Cubs get a top 1st round draft pick next year...

hey Im just looking for possitives.

Can't deal people on the DL.

This might not mean much, but I am bumming along with Cubs fans tonight with the news of DLee's injury. I was really hoping he was only going to miss a few days with soreness. It was bad enough he was probably going to miss the Cards series, but this? It sucks.

I don't have to fly out there.

In fact, I am willing to bet I know what 4-block radius of Pasadena Furcal lives in (since all the non-full-time LA resident Dodgers live in Old Town Pasadena).

i think this is even worse than how we're all reacting.

Agreed. This is really, really bad, especially if it extends beyond this year. Just after he signed a five year deal cheaper with us because he wants to play in Chicago. God@#$# but this team's luck does kill me.

To be honest, I would trade Pie at this point for a Dunn or Cabrera. Desperate times what-have-you.

@$#%. I hate this.

CR is right, though I'd say Sweeney is already to the point where he should primarily be considered a DH.

Sweet, you can pick me up from LAX and we'll go pay Furcal a visit.

Anybody else heard anything regarding Lee's injury other than what was reported on the SCORE or 1000? I don't hear either one of them, but I find it strange that they've reported something that I haven't seen on ESPN website nor cubs.com.

Cincy has no reason to trade Dunn anymore. There's no longer too many outfielders, and their team seems more than happy to have Hatteberg/Aurilia at first.

Think about how good those guys are though.

What do you guys think a Dunn or Cabrera would take?

Dunn... I'm guessing you'd start with Hill (since they want pitching) and then would go from there. But it would take a lot more than Hill. Dunn is just 26 and is about as productive an offensive player as anyone in the league.

And with Miggy... I think you'd have to be looking at a Hershall Walker to the Vikes-esque deal (granted, no draft picks involved, but about the same value-for-value picks).

I mean, consider that Beckett took Hanley Ramirez and then some, and the Red Sox had to be willing to pay Mike Lowell $10 million this year, which was a huge, huge risk given how crappy he was last year.
