  1. I would say collisions like this only happen about 5-7 times a year total in both leagues. A lot of things have to lineup correctly to make it happen. I can think of 3-4 off the top of my head and they go back a few years. Here are some examples with video/game recaps/and some pictures. 3 of the links involve Cardinals, sorry about that. Plays at the plate or collisions at the plate? 4/5 were collisions with the last one being a slide.

  4. Sorry...but that isn't true at all. Barrett was blocking the plate. That signals to the AJP that he is going to get the ball and contact ensues. I have been on both sides of this and it was not a dirty play at all.
  5. This might not mean much, but I am bumming along with Cubs fans tonight with the news of DLee's injury. I was really hoping he was only going to miss a few days with soreness. It was bad enough he was probably going to miss the Cards series, but this? It sucks.
  6. Isn't it normal to push back any team news to the next scheduled game day?
  7. I was at the game on Thursday and it was packed. (The sections that were opened.)
  8. The bad hops would have been knocked down if he got in front of the ball instead of pulling that ole bs. Rolen's way better than ARam defensively, no question. However, Aramis is going to rake for years while Rolen will battle injuries and the clock. I'd take Aramis at this point, but I'd take Rolen if we were going to nab a player after it was all said and done and pick who was the better player. Early return's are great on Rolen this season after the major injury. We all know that 3B's don't aways have time to center themselves on balls hit to them. The first week of the season, I am willing to overlook those plays. Especially seeing his glove work yesterday and the throw from his knees to beat the runner at 1B. As for my bias, I will admit it, it runs deep with Rolen. He is by far my favorite player. So while I will say that Aram has grown by leaps and bounds as a Cub on both sides of the ball and hopefully will be a very good for years to come, I will always pick Rolen for me team.
  9. Doesn't ARam have groin and leg issues?
  10. Rolen by far. I like A-Ram and he has gotten much better, but it is still Rolen. The Cubs infield is infamous for bad hops and bad infield grass. Blaming Rolen for those bad hops is crazy.
  11. Yeah, he got the fans rumbing a bit too, but nothing compared to when TLR took Mulder out to bring in Looper.
  12. Because he was taking out Mulder.
  13. Not a clue on this one.
  14. Yes, the Cubs 'pen looks miles better. Looper and Wainwright looked good. Isringhausen? What's up with walking the bases loaded? I expect they'll (Cardinal 'pen) be much better after LaRussa figures out who's going to take which role, but that performance by Isringhausen was very bad. Is he hurt? I have never seen Izzy that off with his pitches before. First I wondered why Izzy was un-intentionally-intentionally walking DLee, but he was just as off to A-Ram. Crazy.
