Looks like the M's are going to consider dealing him soon if Pagean goes down for an extended period of time would Lawton make a nice fifth outfielder? I would prefer a guy like Lawton so someone like Pie doesn't have to be rushed.

I don't really see what use Dubois would have in the NL other than as an occasional pinch hitter. Maybe he can play first, but we have Lee and Walker already.

He would be serviceable in right field. He definitely has the arm for it.

His power would make him ideal to have to platoon alongside Jacque. With Pagan out, I'd think Dubois would be a good player to have around right now.

Offensively, I agree with you, but from what I remember of his outfield play last year, he's a butcher.

wow I thought the Dubois love train left a long time ago, but it might have been derailed by the superstar express that Choi has been riding on.

I don't understand the logic here: We give K-Pee a September call-up in 2000, 60 games in 2001, and then 4 full season to show he bad he sucks, yet we only give a September call-up in 2004, and half a season, and b/c of a slow start, not to mention being blocked by Hollandsworth, and Dusty's love for unproductive veterens, he's traded away.

Moveon.org lets move on.

Dubois was loveable, but in no way does he have anything to prove. Lets keep Jones for at least 2 more months in RF and see what he can do. Our offense seems okay for now.

Agreed. Wait and see if Jones starts to hit a little bit before worrying about another outfielder. We know Lee and ARam are going to hit. Barrett and Murton can be decent hitters. Let's just hope Jones turns it around a little.

The biggest problem with Jones is that he can't hit left handers. We'd be better off with Neifi in RF with a lefty on the mound. If that isn't bad enough, nearly half the starters in the NL Central are lefties.

St. Louis: Mark Mulder

Milwaukee: Chris Capuano, Doug Davis

Cincinnati: Dave Wilson, Eric Milton, Brandon Claussen

Houston: Andy Pettitte, Wandy Rodriguez

Pittsburgh: Zach Duke, Paul Maholm, Oliver Perez

So, of the 25 starters in the NL Central (not Cubs), 11 of them are lefties.

This is not the only reason people were against a Jacque Jones signing, but the fact the Cubs will likely NOT platoon him because of the amount of money he makes is another legitimate reason.

For the record, I'm not advocating getting Dubois to supplant Jones as a starter. On the other hand, our bench lacks a RH power bat, something Dubois could provide as well as a RH bat to platoon or semi-platoon with Jones in RF, something else Dubois could provide.

Would you really want Bynum starting in RF if one is needed over Dubois? Personally, I'd rather have the Creature.

Dubois is too often fooled by the breaking pitch. Until he adjusts he is not major league material.

I was not advocating getting Lawton to replace Jones. I wanted Lawton to take Pagean spot if his knee injury turns out to be serious. I have moved on but I think a lot of posters here still think think guys like Kelton, Cruz, Choi, Harris,Hill, Dubois,Patterson weren't vauled enough by the Cubs but it looks like every org in baseball basically feels the same way.
