Based on your current height and weight (totally ignoring your physical abilities, age, fitness level, etc.) what position could you play at the professional baseball level? I'm sitting at 6'2", 245 lbs so I'm going to sign up to be a starting pitcher. Poll is forthcoming.

Oh, and I been told that I do look like Kerry Wood, occasionally. I also had some history of shoulder injuries... so I guess that makes me Kerry Wood on this board, eh?

Yeah?

I'd be lucky enough to get 15 starts....

Damn...

Wow...no managers? I'll take that one. When it comes to playing time I except 10's and 20's.....cash that is.

I guess the vote is no for a game this summer...that Sox.

I'm always up for organized baseball(and had to skip my summer league this year due to work) but getting 16 more people to agree might be tough.

I took manager way back on page 1. Mainly because I am awful at sports.

I'm 6'3 and about 200... I'll platoon at first with Ole_Miss. And eventually win the everyday job.

Hell, already happened to me before. Got put out to RF junior year to make room for an All-American at first base. I'd never played outfield in my life, it sucked. Did get to play first again when he pitched though.

Stephen Head?

6' 235 lbs

Your switch hitting backup 3rd baseman

FIXED

6' 230 LBS. Built like a linebacker, but still have some speed and agility. I have soft hands, but not a great arm. I picked 3B.

I'll be the hitting/3rd base coach then!

I'm 6' 245 lbs and built like a tank. Decent reflexes, soft hands and a cannon arm with no accuracy whatsoever. And I run my 40 at just around 5 flat.

I always played third until we finally got a guy who was looking like brooks robinson over there, and I shifted over to first. I guess I'd be the backup corner infielder/ power righthanded bat off the bench.

8 starting pitchers and 11 second basemen. Now that's sticking with the Cubs theme for 2006.

Haha. Yeah, we'll probably have to convert one of our starting pitcher to a reliever, and one of our reliever to be a closer, since we don't have a closer yet.

We need a catcher too. Any fat guys out there with decent knees and a good arm?

That's cool, I'll take the demotion to a reliever / closer spot so long as I get my innings. But realize manager that you'll be pulling a southpaw out of the rotation, so I'll leave the final decision to you.

I put 2B. I primarily played SS and pitched in HS, but I'm guessing I've lost a step or two at age 29 so I probably don't have the range to play SS. Problem is, (like the Cubs) we have too many 2B.

We need a closer. I'll do it.

6'1 195. A typical 2b in mlb so i chose that. After seeing how little this team is I would look like Derrek Lee over there. I take one for the team and move behind the plate. Ive got a good enough arm to throw short distances, my shoulder is wrecked but i can get from home to second no problem. I can hit for decent enough XBH power and hit to all fields to move the runners over. An offensive first catcher. I wont block anything in the dirt, ill be a defensive project like Michael Barrett and subplant his spot as the worst catcher ever.

Man, there are a lot of short people around here, not that there's anything wrong with that. I guess I'm batting cleanup, haha.

P.S.- Chicagoland posters should get together this summer and play a game.

It seems like that, but IIRC, the average height of the adult American male is right around 5'8"

I thought it was more like 5'11". I feel about average and I'm 6'1"

I just checked, and it seems to be just a shade over 5'9"

it peaked at just under 5'11" and has been going down for a few decades due to shifts in immigration. As probably both the biggest and hardest thrower here, I'll nominate myself for closer/setup. [plus that means I get to be lazy and only play a few innings a year]

[/pretending i'm not old]

I think I could only be catcher.

At 5'10" and 185 pounds with a terrible bat, I'd be a poor man's Henry Blanco. Without the slapping of pitchers.
