Unless Duncan magically became decent in the OF, he won't have shot to crack a pair of below avg. corner OF'ers.

Watching him play defense at 1B, I'd be shocked if he could handle the OF defensively.

I actually have that photo saved on my computer as well.

If Zambrano starts your in trouble!

Ah, the olden days. Thanks for the memory. :-)

But if this brings hoggie to NSBB, you're dead to me. ;-)

TLR has already said that Duncan is slated for AAA so he can play the OF everyday. He is also saying they are projecting him as a future starter.

Chris Duncan will never be an everyday player for the Cardinals. He's 25 and doesn't have a great track record. End of story.

It's hard to say that, right now. He's not quite 25 years old yet, and he's shown steady progress in his minor league career. If he was an average defensive outfielder right now (something he's never worked on), he'd probably be headed for a spot on the 25-man roster right now. If he impresses offensively at Memphis, and if he can learn to play an adequate outfield, then he's got a chance. It's not a GREAT chance, but it's a chance, nontheless. He's certainly not going to be worse than So Taguchi or John Rodriguez, offensively.

He's having a great "Jim Lindeman" type of spring.

I hope he can learn to play LF at AAA this year and have a shot to play for the big club next year.

Hey, he's a better OF prospect than Ankiel!

Hey, he's a better OF prospect than Ankiel!

It's not really fair to compare Ankiel to anybody, because nobody has the slightest idea what he can do. Duncan will probably never be as good defensively as Ankiel.

He was actually better in 04 than in 05.

He never will be, Chris had trouble handling 1st.

Well OK, freaky things happen.

I wouldn't be so sure of that.

Chris Duncan is not good.

Anyone remember Luke Scott?

No, I didn't think so.

Hit .368/.411/.779 in 73 PA last Spring for the Astros and made the team.

And then hit .188/.270/.288 in 89 PA for the Astros last year.

As if to underline that you can ignore Spring Training numbers.

Oh, I don't think anybody is proclaiming Duncan as the next Adam Dunn. But a Luke Scott comparison is equally as arbitrary.

Luke Scott was a 45th round draft selectioin, while Duncan was a 1st round selection. Furthermore, Luke Scott was 25 years old before he made it past Class A. Duncan is playing solid Triple A ball at the same age.

Chris Duncan is not good.

His 2004 numbers were slightly better than his 2005 numbers, but he was playing at a higher level (AAA, as opposed to AA). He handled the transition well.

I don't know if he'll be an adequate outfielder. I have my doubts as well, which is why I included the big "if's".

What's not good about Duncan, besides his defense?

Say something negative about the Cardinals. Once.

Even adjusting for AAA his number were still a tad worse.

What else is not good about Duncan? His hitting and speed.
