Talking about Jacque Jones:

"So far, I like his swing. I haven't seen him on off-speed or breaking balls, but I can tell he can hit that fastball, which is where it starts. If you can hit that fastball, you can hit."

Hey Dusty, Pedro Serrano could hit fastballs too, but it took Jobu to help him hit a breaking ball!

Hasn't the knock on Jones always been that he can't hit breaking balls? One of my buddies is a huge Twins fan and he has always wondered why Jacque ever sees a fastball. For 3 years he's been saying that he can crush the fastball but just looks awful against breaking balls.

It reminds me of pitchers who would make Alou look goofy on outside breaking balls but then still try to sneak an inside fastball by him.

Yeah! What was it again, it was a pile of rotten fruit right next to all the bats or something...that was a fun season all the way round.

Until the McGriff rumors started, then it all went downhill.
