Yeah, I've read good things about Matt Bernstein, the FB from Wisconsin. His blocking should go well in the Bears offense.

He reminds me of Neal. He's big, bulky, and blocking is his primary asset. That what Jones needs is someone who will take on blockers one on one and destroy them, especially w/Jones patient style of running.

If Hackney falls to the 7th, I hope the Bears would take him. I've had a crush on Hackney for quite some time, though.

Best pure arm in the draft, better than Young, Leinhart, and Jacobs.

Burnt, go with Briggs!

He is running 3rd right now. Tommie is in first right now and is followed by Peanut.

And like I said before, Tommie is the safer bet since he's signed through 2008. But it's hard to argue against Briggs.

It is. I want to go with Peanut cause I like him so much, though. Personality-wise, he is my favorite current Bear.

anybody get any tickets?

I had class at 10:10 this morning, but I got to campus early and at 9:55 started logging onto ticketmaster with 4 computers and had 2 people trying to get through on the phone, but got nothing for my efforts.

I'll be tailgating before the game at least, and hopefully if I am willing to wait midway through the first quarter I can luck out and find a ticket around face value

They were sold out in a few minutes. I can't believe that many were put on sale to begin with.

In 2001, I got tickets the evening before the playoff game (or maybe the day before). They announced they were releasing more tickets over the internet on the radio. Took about two hours to actually get through, but I got did end up getting three pretty decent seats. Might be worth checking out ticketmaster a day or two before the game.

Chicago Sun-Times[/url]"]Garza signed a six-year contract Monday that can be worth as much as $13.9 million. He receives $4 million up front.

That's essentially where he was in March, when the Baltimore Ravens pulled a four-year, $7 million offer off the table after their physical revealed he did not have an ACL in his right knee

I like the idea of signing guys early before they get a chance to get big money, but $4m up front for a backup guard? I know Chelios showed that a star athlete can play well without an ACL. But he was in great shape. How will a fat offensive lineman with the comfort of guaranteed money hold up? The offensive line depth is a real concern for me. They are extremely thin and old at the tackle spots, and need to look for help in the draft.

I got in exactly when they went up (refreshed every 5 seconds from 9:59 until the sale started), tried for 2 tickets best available, and was immediately told that there were no tickets that matched my request.

Maybe he isn't going to be a backup guard. Perhaps they are going to let Metcalf go and start Garza at right guard.

Looks like Garza is going to have off-season knee surgery.

Anyone hear an update on Metcalf and McGowan?

I'm pretty sure that's what's going to happen.

Garza is a swing guard and backup center. That alone makes him valuable. He's also fairly young. I don't think it's a bad deal cap wise. Other than a few stupid penalties, he's played well this season.

Not a bad deal, IMO.

That is almost certain. You don't sign a guy to that deal unless he is going to start. But my point is he is currently a backup, and while he's somewhat young, he's no pup for a guy that hasn't earned a starting gig yet, turning 27 this offseason. At his weight, with no ACL, does anybody think he'll be a full-time healthy starter for half of this 6 year deal?

I've talked to about 20 Bears fans that tried to get through, some with elaborate strategies, and not one did so don't feel bad.

There are some nice seats going for about $1100 on EBay though!

This game is definitely a bar game. It would be nice to get into Soldier Field, but as long as your watching the game with other Bears fans, its going to be awesome.

This is the first playoff appearance in the new stadium. People who bought PSL's are forced to buy playoff tickets or lose their PSL. My brother in law has 2 PSL seats but isn't excited about going to a game in mid January. The non-PSL season ticket holders aren't required to buy playoff tickets and they aren't in danger of losing season ticket priority. Their might be a secondary market for these PSL tickets.

PSLs and all that go with it suck, but why would you get season tickets but not be "excited about going to a game in mid January?" I'd have a tough time feeling sorry for somebody who went through the effort of getting the PSLs but chose not to buy playoff tickets because it's too cold in January.

probably largely due to Sunday night game against Atlanta. It was cold and nephew said that the restrooms were packed but no one was using them.

Again, if you're buying Bears seasons tickets, you have to be aware of the chance you'll be attending a cold game. If they host a playoff game, you've got to go. Thinking about not attending because it's too cold is one of the weakest excuses I could imagine. If you're financial situation, health or child's health was in dire straits, then you make them available to a friend or family member, or maybe scalp them. Other than that there is no excuse.

I'll gladly take the tickets off their hands. :D
