I'm going to go not-so-far-out on a limb and predict Tejada will be an Angel very soon.

I think it'll come down to the Boston, WSox and Cubs. I think the Angels would only be willing to offer prospects, when the O's seem to want an impact player.

I have a feeling that the Manny + Clement deal for Tejada will go down if the Red Sox will eat some salary of either Manny or Clement.

The O's would be stupid to turn that down. But the O's are stupid.

Steve Phillips on ESPNnews listed the following problems in the Tejada for Ramirez + Clement deal.

1. There's a difference of 22 million dollars between the salaries.

2. The Orioles are still reluctant to trade Tejada within the division.

Phillips thinks these two hurdles will keep the deal from getting done.

The drama continues...

Hmm. Well take prior and Z and hide them far far away. Then go and negotiate with baltimore. If we can get a deal not using prior or Z i'll be a happy camper.

and the o's still think they can demand two impact players in exchange for tejada. when are they gonna see that they have NO leverage?

I hope that they keep doing this till say......February. Then realize "oh snap! we have to trade him" and then we can steal him for Patterson and Wellemeyer.

Or something like that.

The big problem the Cubs have in regards to Miggy is Boston, they are going to drive up his price.

I don't believe Boston will be in that position for the simple reason the O's still won't to trade within the division. The Angels on the other hand might.

I am still reluctant to beleive that they will even consider trading w/ boston. But thats just a gut feeling.

Van Dyck's update in the Trib:

Miguel Tejada, Baltimore's All-Star shortstop, was quoted as saying a "change of scenery" might be best for him. . ...

Cubs: General manager Jim Hendry was among the first to express interest in Tejada, which is natural for a team lacking one more offensive player, but it has been slow going since. The Cubs, apparently, would be willing to part with Prior for Tejada, which would save the Orioles money and give them a young starting pitcher.

The proposed deal has been altered several times to include such Cubs as Corey Patterson and Todd Walker and perhaps prospect Rich Hill. The Cubs would want young lefty Erik Bedard back. The Orioles prefer Carlos Zambrano to Prior.

One advantage for the Cubs: They have the financial flexibility to take on Tejada's salary without giving much salary in return.

White Sox: If the Orioles trade Tejada, they would need a shortstop, and the White Sox would be willing to part with Juan Uribe as part of a deal. They also might be willing to trade Jose Contreras, who might have been baseball's best pitcher the last two months last season. Would GM Ken Williams really break up his world championship lineup? In a heartbeat. After adding Jim Thome this winter, Williams would turn around a lineup that was very average last season.

The problem for the White Sox is money. Their payroll already is projected at $95 million, which is $20 million more than last season.

Tejada is ridiculous.

He's starting to sound like Manny!

I was about to post the same thing. Tejada sounds like a little girl. Shut up and play, Miggy, you're getting paid $12MM/year to play baseball, act like a man and quit yer moping.

Don't really want him based on baseball numbers, but his whining makes me want him even less. Let's move on.

i want to know how he's gotten this reputation as being some kind of clubhouse leader extraordinaire. this behavior ain't helping the baltimore clubhouse if he's not traded.

It will come down to this: Boston has to deal Manny and get something in return. Baltimore needs to deal Tejada and get something in return. Unless they want prospects, both teams are better off trading with each other, inside the same division or not.

That's the problem.

If I was Baltimore, I would jumped on this deal the SECOND it was truly offered. Manny has a CAREER OPS of 1.008 while Tejada has a CAREER .815 OPS., if Baltimore doesn't take this deal, they'd BE CRAZY. Then to throw-in Clement, who--by default---would be the Orioles best pitcher, would make this deal a STEAL for Baltimore. Now would Manny accept a trade to Baltimore? To me...I doubt it.
