I think Alabama will lose to either LSU or Auburn (or both), leaving just 2 unbeatens. If either USC and/or Texas get upset, we'll have at least on 1-loss team in the Rose Bowl. So, which team is most deserving to go (at this point)? Edited by Derwood

Penn State. They really shouldn't have a loss to begin with.

As a college football fan, as well as a Northwestern fan who saw them early in the season, let me tell you that they could very easily have two by now.

Well yeah, but they didn't win the Northwestern game on a play with one second left after Paterno whined to the officials to unjustly get a couple seconds put back on the clock earlier.

It should be noted that I believe the chance of this scenario occurring is about as good as the chance that Notre Dame, USC, Texas and Penn State all go winless next year.

Hahaha, that's true. I wasn't trying to take anything away from them, and I don't have sour grapes or anything, but if they don't convert on that 4th and 15 in Evanston I don't think they ever end up being a top 10 team. I'd have to give it to Miami or Texas.

Agreed. I think Bama will lose one of it's next 3 games, but USC and Texas look too damn good right now

Look for the Jayhawks to turn this whole operation upside down by beating Texas at Austin this weekend.

Miami. Only loss was the first game of the year to FSU (in what was possibly one of the ugliest games ever). That team has really come around. No way I would have ever thought Miami would be top 10 at this point.

Penn State next, but I really think Miami is a better team right now.

Why no university of Oregon? They have only lost to USC. and just beat Cal.

Oregon is too low right now. I didn't list every one-loss team (I left off Texas Tech as well as a few others)

I'm hoping that USC, Texas and Alabama all lose one game by the end of the season and this whole BCS thing goes splat.

That would be the best thing that could happen. The more messed up it gets, the more likely a playoff becomes.

I think when the new standings come out today, you'll see Miami at #3

I would not doubt it. I would not be suprised if they ended up moving up to #2 by the end of the year. The only thing that hurt that is FSU losing on Saturday.

USC deserves to be in the game if all those teams have 1 loss (or if all but Texas loses). Penn St. probably deserves it most because they have the most controversial loss, but USC is a better team...and the goal is to get the 2 best teams playing for the championship.

What if USC (with 1 loss) played Texas (undefeated) in the Rose Bowl, USC won, and then Penn St. beat one of the other 1-loss teams in whatever bowl they play in? Who gets the National Title?

Isn't that what happened two years ago?

This is a tough one and it would really depend on how the season falls from here. Miami plays Florida St and again and the SEC title game has to be played. If Penn St wins out they deserve a chance too IMO. What might be interesting is if USC losses a game I and Alabama and Texas reamin undefeated I'm curious if some will want a USC vs Texas game. I'm sure the TV execs don't want a "boring" Alabama in the title game.

It's exactly what happened two years ago. Thanks to SC not losing since 2003, no one even remembers that technically LSU won that year's national title.

Of course he remembers. But everyone should remember that.

It's far too early to decide, but it'll end up being a team like Miami that lost its game early on.

Oh, and I voted for UCLA because I'm extremely biased. :)

The result could easily be a split championship in the polls. The #1 position in the coaches poll (ESPN) automatically goes to the winner of the BCS championship game; the coaches are obligated to vote the winner #1 as part of the BCS agreement. Voters in the media poll (AP) are able to vote for who they think is the best team regardless of whether they play in the championship game or not.
