Cubs, Neifi Perez agree on 2-year contract

Hendry is becoming more like Dusty every day. On one hand he says that he wants to win and that it was his responsibility for losing last year, then he goes out and starts signing the very players that, in part, were responsible for the horrible season. I'm not saying that Neifi is a horrible player, but to sign him to a 2 year deal for anything more than 25th man money is ridiculous (Same as Rusch). You can't improve unless you actually make changes to the team that you already had in place.

 

I realize that he has the remainder of the off season to fix the team, but so far this offseason is not going so well.

If Neifi Perez is our starting shortstop or second basemen next year, I might just have to take a season off of watching baseball. Just, jesus, how can you be so stupid?

 

Now, if Neifi does legitimately become a sub, being used only to pinch hit (shudder) and as a late inning replacement, and I suppose to spell shortstop and second base once in a while, it won't be the worst waste of a roster space ever. I have little to no faith this will happen...

 

Of course, when we trade walker to Texas for Kevin Mench to play right field, i'm sure they'll throw in Hidalgo too so Murton never gets a start! Hello outfield of Hidalgo/Patterson/Mench!

On the other hand, I still think Furcal is the primary target. Neifi is insurance again, just like last season when he signed Perez before re-signing Nomar.

 

On the other hand...a two year deal is ridiculous. It isn't worth giving roster filler a two year deal. If he's making more than 2 million, I may start drinking at work.

I see Macias more than Holla. I think Holla is gone for good until the Cubs are 20 games out in July and Hendry thinks they need one more bat and trades Pie and Hill for Holla to put the Cubs back in the race.

well at least the royals have Billy Butler and Alex Gordon coming. I think I am gonna just go in on season tickets to them as opposed to watching the Cubs all year, unless serious improvements are made. I will still hope they win, but I just cannot put myslef through watching another season like last year again.

Give it a rest already. Neifi is back, deal with it. Its November freakin 8th. I'll judge this team in March, not November. Contray to the popular opinion, Neifi isn't worthless. Does he have weaknesses, of course. But lets not get carried away here.

 

Nobody has any idea what the plans are for this organization. And everybody here thinks they have all the answers and know better than those in charge. Again, its Nov 8th. If Hendry and company fail to improve this team and they have another season like last year than I agree a change my be in order.

 

I don't blame Hendry for Nomar ripping his groin, Prior's heel/elbow, Wood's latest injury of the month. See what they put together before you rip it to shreds. Its November people...

Bruno i dont think anyone has ripped Hendry for injuries etc what people are dissapointed in is his lack of a plan it always seems to be off the cuff and never a series of strategic moves to help the team. If he does this and we makes proggress i will praise him but so far this off season the most positive thing we have to talk about is the bears !! go figure...
