A World Series featuring division rivals St. Louis Cardinals vs. city rival White Sox. I honestly don't know who I would root for as I despise both teams pretty much equally, and making it (or winning for that matter) to the WS will result in much torment from the fans of both teams. However, being a native Chicagoan, I suppose I'd have to root for the hometown team even though it would make my stomach turn.

What say you?

I'd be rooting for the Cardinals. The White Sox winning would be hell in Chicago for Cubs' fans. In fact, I'd love to see the Sox get up 3-0 next round and choke away the series.

Yeah, I think I would too. As sacreligious as that sounds, most White Sox fans are harder to tolerate, IMO. I can't imagine if they won the series.

It's going to be more fun to watch them throw away this 2-0 lead.

I would root for the Sox. Why not? If you're getting crap from Sox fans, you're hanging out with the wrong people

The Sox win and still no one cares.

The Cards win and all that BS about their "tradition of winning" actually means something.

Go Sox, I guess.

Either way their fans are going to be obnoxious. So what difference does it make?

If the Cardinals win, we'll hear all that jazz about their tradition. If the Sox wins, aparoche (Jabroni) will give me a wonderful case study in aberrant, anti-social behavior. That could be amusing. I think I'd have to root for the Sox.

It would be the first time in my life I'd say "GO CARDS"! I think I'm going to be sick! I think one of those teams will faulter. I actually like Houston going to the World Series. I think Angels are going to beat the Yanks and the Sox.

IMHO any Chicago championship should be celebrated. The White Sox are the defacto underdogs. Look at the history of the White Sox, they are a much maligned team, with the Black Sox scandal and all. Plus, thay play the "second class of second city" crap all the time since the Cubs have a higher profile.

I say go Sox over whomever in the World Series. If it's over the Cards it would be sweeter. But then again it would be like your sister beating up the bully at school. You'd be glad how things turned out but you'd be saying "it should have been me to do it".

The Cubs team is coming along fine IMO. They'll be in good posistion to win.

The way the Sox have gone about winning and keeping not to high and not to low might be the right approch. Cubs take note. I don't want the Cubs goal to be to get to the World Series. I want them to win it!

I'd root for the Cards, only because every team I ever root for always loses.. I'd like to see the winner of the series between the Redsox and Whitesox win it all.. I like the Redsox and the White sox are a chicago team, and I'd like to have a chicago win, even if its not the cubs.

If the Sox do manage to win the whole thing Reinsdorf will get the new stadium he wants. Sox fans being Sox fans they will more than likely burn down the Cell in celebration along with most of the South Side.

Reinsdorf wants a new stadium? Isn't the Cellblock only 15 years old? If he does, I hope he is putting up all the money.

I wouldn't watch. Not one pitch. Did the same thing in 2003.

Same here. It's getting difficult just tuning into a Chicago newscast or picking up a newspaper. Way too much White Sox stuff. The sooner they go away the better.

White Sox against the Cardinals in the World Series. A glimpse of life in hell.
