Don't look now, but Indiana is 3-0 and half way to bowl eligibility. \:D/

Of course, now they have to actually start playing against real teams.

They tried to get Little outside on a sweep on fourth-and-one but he was dragged down for a 1-yard loss.

"That's my fault," Brooks said. "I thought they'd bunch things up in the middle and thought we could get something on the edge. That was my call."

Great job by Brooks...

This was the defining moment of his tenure at UK.

Nicholls State won 54-0 yesterday. Not that it means anything, but they are not as bad a team as some would suggest. Probably better than Kentucky.

Blake Powers looked awesome. Taylor looked awesome. The crowd was awesome. Indiana football still isnt a big deal, but Coach Hep is definately taking this team and program in the right direction.

Just got back from Mizzou's smack down of Troy. Much better than last week.

Now it's time to keep my Spartans in the lead. Go MSU!

Yes that was a fun game. I've got a sweet farmer's tan going on now.

Chase Coffman is my new favorite college player.

While I really like Coffman, my favorite is Crossett. I wanted Coffman to lay out that defensive back that was jawing with him so badly though. He had about 7 inches and 30 pounds on the guy.

EDIT: This week's sign of the apocolypse. Brad Smith took a snap under center.

Crossett? Really, why's that? Great guy, but he's really not too good of a kicker. Way too inconsistent. Coffman is money though - he wont drop a ball all year.

There's no particular reason, although he's perfect since the ASU game, which I don't think counts anyway :D. That OB kickoff was his first screw up of the season in that department, he's even a better punter than Hoenes. Basically I love yelling Crossett's name when he comes on the field, and being a soccer player I gotta pull for the kicker. Coffman should start over Rucker, he dominates the middle of the field.

MSU planted their flag in the middle of ND stadium again after this win. I have a real problem with teams doing stuff like that. Three years age BC tore up the field after their win when nd was #4, and now MSU has apparently started a tradition of sticking a flag in midfield when a win. If ND would put their flag in the middle of someone elses field I would feel the same way. It is a classless act, and IMO Smith should (which he won't) do something to stop it.

Coffman is incredible. I need his jersey. Unfortunately, they don't make them, and I'm too cheap to get one custom made.

At least my school won today. Can't say the same about South Carolina or Illinois, can we?

Anyone see the end of the Nebraska-Pitt game? Pitt lines up for a FG, down 7-6. The holder wasn't ready for the snap, apparently, and the ball hit him smack in the head. It was hilarious to watch in slow motion. The kicker or holder recovered and threw the ball away - apparently it wasn't a 4th down, so Pitt got to try the FG again. This time, their FG was blocked, and Pitt falls to 0-3 after a 7-6 loss.

Has he ever won as a head coach? I wonder how Harris is doing?

This time the Hoosiers had the right idea for hiring a coach: Hire a proven winner from the MAC rather than recycling a failed major college coach (DiNardo).

I don't know who all bets on any of these games, but next week looks like a very interesting week, with some real good games.

MICHIGAN -3

WISCONSIN

TENNESSEE U

LSU -6.5

IOWA

OHIO STATE -7

GEORGIA TECH

VIRGINIA TECH -10

PURDUE

MINNESOTA U -3.5

BOSTON COLLEGE

CLEMSON -3

I can't believe Purdueis not favored. Also OSU seems favored a little too much, and BC/Clemson will probably be even by game time IMO.

Hey DJAXX....Ainge is a better QB then Claussen...is it possible Claussen is playing because of his little brother is the best QB HS recruit ever?

Yes, very possible. Although I haven't heard that mentioned in the media, I was thinking about that the other night, especially after the Outside the Lines feature.

Yes, Raisin, my team took a natural ass whipping this weekend. Downright embarassing. Spurrier look homicidal in the first half and suicidal in the second. On his TV show yesterday, he basically threatened to start 11 new guys on defense, most of whom would be freshman. Our front seven was terrible.

Its going to be a long year and USC is probably a four win team. The recruiting was strong this season and if we can keep recruiting top 15 classes, then 2-3 years from now, we should be more competitive. We'll see. At least the Steelers kicked ass yesterday, so I feel a little better.

As for Dave Wannstedt, he was successful for a while in the NFL. His teams won 41 games in 4 years at one stretch. I admit that he was not successful over the long haul, but the capability was there. Furthermore, college football's golden boy, Pete Carroll was a good NFL coordinator and an AWFUL head coach. I predicted that Wanny could be successful (though not as much as Carroll) in that same mold. We'll see how he recruits. Turns out Tyler "f'in" Palko was wildly overrated.

UK has looked awful vs. a bad team.

Worst coaching staff in the nation, UK fans will use the injury excuse as well as the sanctions instead of lack of preparation and fundamentals.

Brooks will be back next year.

Am I talking about Brooks or Baker? :x

Change to IU fans and welcome to the basketball season.

I wonder if Hep can coach b-ball?

I don't think IU is a bad team, maybe below average but are well-coached (can't believe that is being said about IU football). So I guess all I can say...

get used to the defeat.

You're having my College football/Cub fan 2004 season and I'm thrilled that Syracuse fired Coach P and Coach Robinson actually made an in game adjustment against Virginia...I haven't seen that done here in years. So far I like what I see from this coach.

Notre Dame went from unranked to 10/12 in the polls after winning in Michigan, who fell to 14/14. Michigan State wins in Notre Dame, and goes from being unranked to 17/22, while ND drops to 16/18. That seems to be a contradiction of logic.

In retrospect maybe. Now that we have seen that Pitt is completely awful. Initially, you had to be impressed with back to back wins on the road vs ranked teams. Michigan was top 5. That's more impressive than an OT win @ ND when some of their luster has faded after we found out that Pitt is a joke. It's a double edged sword. It all ends up working out in the end.

I don't think it does. If ND and Michigan St win the rest of their games ND will remain ahead because the voters can't admit they are wrong. They always drop a team only so far and even if they are beaten by an unranked team like Michigan St and like Iowa State over Iowa as they still remain behind in the polls.

The voters knew Pitt was a joke when they moved up ND that high since Pitt lost to Ohio before the Michigan game. My point is that they can move ND high enough and drop Michigan low enough so that ND is higher than them in both polls after that victory, but not do the same when MSU beats ND.

Michigan St beats ND at ND and is still 4 spots behind in the coaches poll. It's all about the reputation and misguided perception with these things. ND may very well be a better team and finish with a better record than Michigan St but to the point is what was accomplished on the field to the point of the poll and that was a Michigan St victory at ND. It amazes me that these clowns are the ones who vote who goes to the championship game.
