The only thing the Sox have going for them playoff wise is that the Red Sox and Yankees are going to beat each other up, so the wildcard is within reach. It's sad that I don't even consider the Sox to be the front runner in the wild card race... and they are still leading the central.

Yeah, the tv ratings is more of people who are watching the historical collapse than those that actually tune in to watch the Sox. At the bar last night every tv had on either the Sox game or the Indians game. And people were laughing the whole time.

I really don't hate the Sox, but this collapse sure is fun to watch. I think it'd be fun no matter who it was. (well, except the Cubs of course. But they'd actually have to be good to be able to collapse)

I love these quotes.

Johann Santana said:

The season is not over yet. Those guys have to go out there and play the game like they were at the beginning of the season. That's when you prove how good you are -- at the end of the season. You have to finish strong and that's when good players and teams show up.

We are out there giving everything. We know how important this game is to the Sox and everyone else and no one can accuse us of laying down.

I wish the Cubs would have gotten Gardenhire. :(

The wild card means that the White Sox are probably going to make the playoffs no matter what. They would have to do a major big-time fold for the Indians AND the runner-up team from the AL East to pass them.

Then again, that's not as unlikely as pooping away 13 1/2 games of a 15-game lead is.

We need Boston and the Yankees to keep winning right up to their head-to-head series next weekend. That, along with some more good times at the Cell, and those bastards will be stuck at home for a long, debilitatingly frustrating offseason.

At this point does it even matter if the Sox makes the playoffs? I can't see them winning a series against any of the other AL teams. I really want the Indians to make the playoffs but I'd almost rather see the Sox limp in if it's ahead of the insufferable AL East teams.

I don't want Reinsdorf, Williams, Guillen or Jimbo's to see a dime of any postseason cash/bonuses. Let the AL East romp.

Sox have now won three in a row, and the calendar is getting short.

I think that as long as their lead is three games or less goin into Cleveland for the final series, that Cleveland still will at least tie.

We need to root for Detroit to be the spoiler.

Haha. Tigers just beat the White Sox on a walkoff homer by Granderson. Idle Cleveland is only 2 games back now.

Conidering the Yankees and Redsox play eachother the final 3 gayes, it is very unlikely.

Right now the Indians and Yankees (up 6-0, so I'll give them the win) are 2 back of the Sox, and the Redsox are 2.5.

Lets say the worst happens to the Sox and they get swept by the Tigers, and everyone else wins. That puts everyone 1 game up on the Sox. Going into the final series, someone has to lose at least 2 in the Yankees/Boston series, and even if the Sox get swept:

The furthest the Sox can possibly end up behind is 2 games. And that's only if they completely collapse and everyone else does their job.

Damn the Indians for bumping up the Saturday game to 1:25PM from 7:05PM. Luckily, my flight arrives about 2 hours before that so I'll catch the game as well as Sunday's.

Things would look alot better if Oakland were involved, or if the Twins had played worth a damn over the weekend. But I'm still hopeful - we've come this far, right?

lets go indians! lets hope the tribe can win tonight and the tigers can steal another one from the sox. not only that, but im cheering for boston to win two and the yankees to lose. i think i would rather see the sox in the playoffs again than the yankees. oh well, go indians
