Again--I'm all for dealing Walker, but in the offseason, when you can get more value for him. To trade him today for some low-level prospect that cannot help the Cubs in 2006, is stupid. No trade.

At the 10:20 AM CDT Sportscenter Update on ESPN Radio 1000, Bruce Levine did say that the Cubs and White Sox have been discussing a Todd Walker trade.

Who from the Sox that has cleared waivers would we even be remotely interested in?

What about Crede? The Ram only has 1 year left before they move him to 1st base

Brian Anderson plz

Isn't Anderson on their 40 man already?

I'm hoping for Gio Gonzalez, myself.

I'm sure he is, since he was just up here last week. It was more wishful thinking. :D

And would the Sox put Iguchi at short?

Jim, I've said it before. If you trade Todd Walker and don't get a lot of value in return, you're the stupidest man in baseball.

They'd be much better off trading Burnitz, as he's certianly gone after this year. Better to get something than nothing at all.

“I chose to come here because I love the team and I love the easy money and I love the city and the remarkably dumb fans. Plus, winning means nothing here - you don't really even have to take the field. It's great!,” said Walker...

You misquoted him.

His arm is weak for second.

i've heard that he was a SS in his earlier Japan days before arm problems made him become a 2B.

as for the Walker trade, please wake up Jim and DON'T TRADE HIM!!!

Bruce Levine was just on ESPN radio and said that the only way Walker is traded is if the team is willing to give up somebody good for him. An average player wont do it. This could be a minor leaguer or a ready mlb player but it wont be done unless he's good.

That's correct. He played 3 years at SS before a shoulder injury necessitated a move to 2B.

It makes sense to trade Walker from the stand point that our IF issues going into next year aren't quite as tough as the OF ones. As such, if you had to trade someone and you want that someone to fetch something valuable in return, Walker makes sense (he's worth a lot more than Jeromy). That said, we don't have to trade anyone, but creating more depth in the farm system couldn't hurt, since we will need to pull off a trade to get an impact OF during the offseason.

Walker was so concerned over trade rumors at Thursday's roster-freeze deadline, he approached general manager Jim Hendry to ask what was up. He was assured it would have taken a good package to get the second baseman, who has a $2.5 million option for next season.

"Based on my option next year and the fact I'm a .300-hitting second baseman who comes fairly cheap, for him to give me away doesn't make much sense," Walker said.
