I can't wait to see them face good pitching, and watch "J-Rod" flail at pitches.

You don't have to wait for the playoffs to see that.

Not to pry, but why are you so bitter? On a board full of people who followed the same disappointing team as you this season, you seem to be particularly angry.

I'm not angry, I think it could be my posting style that comes off my way.

I'm a natural born debater, I love a good natured debate, with information and opinion going back and forth.

Sorry if I offended anybody.

The NL is wide open, if the Marlins get their act together they may be the NL's best. No offense to Cardinal fans but, a lineup consisting of the Taguchi', Nunez', Mabry' and John Rodigruez' of baseball just isn't going to cut in the Post Season. In the AL, I believe the Angels or Red Sox are the best teams, one of them will represent the AL.

If the Marlins win the WC:

Marlins and Angels

If the Marlins don't win the WC:

Braves? and Angels

Note:

For those who believed the Astros are going to win the WC hands down - Clemens, Petite, Oswalt and the rest of their starting staff have to, with their weak offense, pitch a shutout or a near shutout everytime out. This, like the WC, is not going to happen for Astros.

I don't think Cards fans think there's much of a chance with that lineup, but they are still looking forward to getting Walker, Sanders, and Grudz back healthy. If they play every day in the playoffs (and there's no further injuries), I think they go. Still a lot of ifs and I'd agree that there's no sure bet in either league.

I think the Padres are going to win the World Series and Mark Loretta will bat about .500 this post season.

Why do I think that? Because it means the Cubs will sign Loretta to a 4 year $60 million dollar contract to play second next season.

What of the Yankees? Along with overpaying for Jon Garland (1 great season + free agent year = bloated contract from the Yankees see Pavano, Carl), they're sure to dish out the megabucks for the star of the WS.

It would be alot to expect the Cards winning with that sort of lineup (and Mike Mahoney to boot, because Molina was still out at that time), but they did recently take 2 out of 3 against the Braves, and split 4 against the Marlins, so it's not out of the question. Home field advantage should help the Cards also. If Walker, Sanders and Grudz come back strong, the Cards have as good a chance as any team, I guess.

If the Braves are a better team than the Cardinals, Yoda is a Sith Lord.

I've been figuring on the Cards in the Series, and probably winning it, the whole season. I've posted as much in this thread and others. However, I'm less certain (ha, certainty in predictions -- what a pompous statement) with Rolen's injury. I still consider the Cards as favorites, but I can now envision them being upset in the NL more easily than before.

Are they a better team with Rolen? Sure thing. But Rolen really hasn't played this year, and when he did, he wasn't very good. I agree that a healthy Rolen would make them a better WS team, but they've done pretty darn good so far without him.

It's just that I believe that talent/ability/whatever is magnified in the postseason. It might be one thing for a supremely talented team to skate at a position during the regular season (pardon me, though, I have no idea what the Cards are currently getting out of 3B) but that becomes more difficult when the stakes are raised.

Anyway, I still expect the Cardinals to go to the World Series. They're probably still the best team in the league. Also, I'm from Southern Indiana and I hate the fact that Jasper-born Rolen is injured. He's so my favorite Cardinal ever -- ha, the only one I've ever liked. It's just that if I was a Cardinal fan I'd be worried this injury costs the best team the best shot at winning the series.

Ah the annual WS predictions in August.

NL: The cards are damn tough team i like the rotationa and pen a lot and the offense just still seems to score runs. The offense weakness will be good pitching but other than the Marlins i dont see that happening. I do like the Marlins almost as much as the Cards but they sure a disappointing team. Maybe second to the Cubs. How do they not have a better record? I like this team IF they can get in. I go with the Cards, something aint right about the marlins.

AL: Red Sox-hate the SP. White Sox-love the SP. Yanks-hate that rotation, randy just aint randy anymore. Oak gotta like them, did they play their best baseball already? If oak gets in watch out. I like the SP and i like their offense. Angels, eh SP doesnt do it for me, nice pen though. Whitey Sox terrible OBP is going to get exposed in the playoffs.

Cards Vs A's

Posted
The Cards are beating the Marlins, a potential playoff foe, 7-0 right now with Jeff Suppan starting and an outfield of Seabol, Taguchi, and Luna. It's games like this bode well for their WS chances.

The World Series champion will be either Oakland or the Angels.

If the Sox and Cards meet, I'll root for the Cardinals, and then after it's over, bang my head against a wall and crack an egg on my head.
