Some of you guys are just jerks--I am not trying to be argumentative, but come on--Jose Macias is nearly hitting .300 as a sub and you still think he has not done anything--NOT FAIR!!!!!

The nitpicking of Macias and Neifi's a bunch of crap. Macias is a utility player, who hits .300. I have no idea why he and Neifi have become the whipping boys. This team was not built around them. It was built around a couple guys named Wood and Prior.

Nice AB by Walker.

DLee is cooling off?

He should have a homer today. That ball looked foul from the camera angle ESPN showed. But the idiots Morgan and Miller said it was "foul"...

That's true. The .306 OBP with an average of .293 tells me the guy never takes a walk, which limits his effectiveness.

I'm beating my head against the wall cause Macias didn't take a walk. 4-3 is better than 5-3.

The guys a bench player who can play a bunch of positions. You want to bring back DuBois, who has a lower obp and can't play any positions?

I hope this doesn't sound trollish but I simply cannot believe Wood hasbn't been shut down for surgery.

Me neither.

You know what I cant believe? If you're not out of the race, why give up?...

If he can pitch, why shut him down? If it isnt going to cause any harm to him, then you might as well use him.

BTW, they skipped The Stretch on ESPN!?!?!

That's a tough one. It's a fine line as to who's in the race and who isn't. Is every team mathematically alive still in it? I'd say no. At some point, logic has to enter into it.

Yeah, he can pitch. Obviously, he can pitch quite well -- he's been nasty. But do the doctor's actually know it isn't going to cause harm? It can't help, can it? Seems to me all pitching could do is cause harm.

It's ESPN, what do you expect?

Because they are usually the first bats off the bench and Neifi started for an extended period of time in front of a better hitter. You might also notice that they both walk at among the worst rates in the major leagues. Their batting averages don't show the whole story.

Maybe it was built around the wrong two guys then. Just a thought.

Yeah, Dubois will be a career sub-.300 OBP guy. He's a better offensive player than Macias by a fair margin even with his struggles, if that's what you're asking.

You a doctor?

What's the point of this comment. It is well known that Kerry is going to need surgery this offseason. Are you just trying to get under his skin because he is a Cards fan?

You a doctor?

No, but I play one on television.

Seriously though, he's hurt and this teams medical staff has a history of making mistakes with young arms. Wood is an excellent pitcher when he's on, and very hittable when not. He needs to be 100% healthy to start. Baker and Hendry made a decision, with input from the medical staff for sure, to keep pitching Wood. I happen to disagree with it.

Not at all. Many on this board agree with you. According to Hendry, several specialists have told them that he can't do any more damage to his arm if he only throws one inning at a time and less than 35-40 pitches.

Has Hendry consulted w/ the Northside specialist though?
