Am I gonna get banned?

I'm really not doing anything wrong, just stating my (obviously) biased opinions.

Do you guys allow Cards fans here, or pretty much just kick 'em out for no apparent reason?

Banned? Not likely. But it isn't much appreciated when a Card fan signs up for a Cubs site on the day of a cubs/cards series expressly to root for the other team. Why do so many Cardinal fans stray over here? Do a lot of Cubs fans from here also post at Cards Talk?

There are several Cards fans here that are respected quite a bit. From what I've seen, you've started your posting career here at the beginning of a Cards/Cubs series, and haven't exactly been congenial. Tone matters, get off on the right foot before responding with sarcasm, it will go a long way.

Classic Baker ... the Cubs will win just enough to keep the vultures from picking at the wretched remains of this season.

a decent outing for Maddux. 4 ER in 8 innings, not too bad.

You do realize that pretty much every game in the past 3 weeks would be a loss if our starter only gave up 4 runs in 8IP

I just injected myself with some positive pills. If for some reason we swept Houston this week and pulled to within say 4 games at the end of that series....

I love it when managers cont. to micromanage despite the score of the game.

Micro-managing to some, successful managing to others. What's wrong with getting a regular some time off during a blowout?

Who said pulling Eckstein was a part of reasoning?

Pitching around the #8 hitter to get to the pitcher was my reasoning. I'll be more than happy to explain my thesis on why not to pitch around a #8 hitter.

Because why? Sabermetrics? I'd genuinely like to hear what you have to say.

Well, in my defense, I did try and sign up to the site before, but my account apparently wasn't accepted be even have the opportunity of being activated. I used the name "InEnemyTerritory." Maybe it was just a technical problem?

It's kind of neat getting the prespective of the opposing team's fans, though. Seriously. Cards Talk is blatanly biased, and it's nice to get other views sometimes. When you routinely hear people suggesting that players like John Gall and Bo Hart have a trade value higher than "null," it starts to get frustrating.

Did Eldred just throw at ARam??

Stupid way to wake up a sleeping, struggling team.

Why do you have to make something out of nothing? La Russa does not order pitchers to throw at players. Period.

I'm sorry, I caught what you were talking about later in the thread. I thought you were talking about switching players around...which is normally what people are complaining about when it comes to micro-managing. That, or the constant changing of relief pitchers for matchup reasons.

I'm not watching the game, so I can't talk about how blatant the pitching around was...mlb.com had all the pitches pretty close, but that doesn't really mean anything. Even if it was blatant, you're talking about a reliever who had already thrown an inordinate number of pitches, and who was being kept in to save the bullpen for later in this series on a day when he obviously isn't pitching all that well, so what's the big deal pitching around someone with him to get to someone who can't hit a lick?

i realize that our offense has been most of the blame lately. Maddux did a good job recovering from the homer in the 1st inning.

I read an article in ESPN magazine where he not even admitted to doing so in strategical situations, he actually named specific instances in the past where he threw at a player. I think the player he named in that article was Luis Gonzalez. He was talking about how much he hated to do it because they were friends.

So there.

Wait...my bad.

He doesn't head hunt! That's what I was thinking of.

In fact, in 3 Night in August, he does talk about nailing Luis Gonzalez.

Forget what I said!

Anyone else smell Cards fan (or troll)?

We've been pretty lucky with the lack of trolls on this site. Cubs.com is swarming with them

probably not the right thread, but mike cameron was carted off the field today after colliding with carlos beltran. beltran also left the game with a sore left shoulder.

I haven't been real positive of the entire season and lately especially, however the only thing that has kept me from thoroughly throwing in the towel was the knowledge that we still have a ton of games left with both the Cards and Stros. Even if the playoffs aren't likely, the opportunity to play spoiler still gives me reason to see the Cubs win.

This is the kind of game that makes me feel good; like may be this is the start of a turn around...

But then tomorrow will come, and the Cards will take harsh revenge against us.
