Another 1-2-3 inning for the Cubs. Given up yet Scott?

No but it isn't looking to good when the guys are trying to hit a 7 run home run. Take a walk, a single, gets things started that way. Solo shot after solo shot isn't going to win the game.

I have faith and games like this whan nothing and I mean nothing goes right has a way of changing teams if they snap out of it. I have seen it in the past when something happens and the team wakes up from their sleep walking and really gets going.

I'll be watching for the light to turn on. I know it will.

Sorry, Scott, but this smacks of blind faith arising from desperation. Optimism ought not supplant realism.

That being said, you can be sure the Cubs will score 10 runs next inning simply to mock me.

Okay, I guess I look at it differently. Why do we have guys in the pen who can't throw two days in a row? How is that helping us? I would've been fine waiting until September to see Williamson and not seeing Wood until next year.

4 times in 6 days isn't the best usage plan for a guy coming off of 2 reconstructive elbow ops...

I actually do agree with your final statement, though. No need to take chances with either guy right now..

Haha. Mesmer just said "future hall of famer" Ryne Sandberg. Someone needs to tell Mesmer that Ryno is in the Hall of Fame now. Edited by E.J.

WTF is Williamson doing in the game?! WTF. Dusty is going to Fox him for sure. Screw Dusty. Screw him stright to hell.

Well, Williamson only threw 12 pitches yesterday. Hopefully Dusty yanks him if he gets into trouble.

Williamson shouldn't have been in there yesterday, and you could tell by how he threw. This is 4 times in 6 days. No excuse. None.

I wouldn't put Williamson out there either, but somebody has to pitch, and there's still the 8th and 9th. Out of the inning with 15 pitches. Hopefully he gets at least a day off, hopefully 2.

As would I. But Baker has to know Williamson and Wood's situations, as well as Fox's. You shouldn't be in a position where you have to protect your players from your manager.

U know you're a bad team when the Reds pitchers are doing better than your pitcher and you cant hit a lick off them.

milton-5-12 6.75era 1.58 whip(egh) .301 baa...3 hits so far?

claussen 7-8 4.53 1.40 .274baa

harang 8-10 3.90 1.20 whip .249 baa

hendry got rameriz because he was horrible with pittsburgh, they were paying him a bunch of cash and he hadn't produced since he signed his big deal...he had 23 errors in half a season there...they dumped his salary- they did not try to get equal value...it worked out but it was a huge gamble.

same with lee, he was aproductive player who was due a big raise that florida as a frabchise usually does not pay...they got a young cheap guy they hoped would develop. hendry's best move

we were a game from the series just 2 years ago and we had just a few things to do in order really take a shot at it ...now with all of hendry's genius we are worse than cincy. that's right we are the 2nd worse team in the central and maybe only better than the dodgers and rockies in the league...yeah, great job of putting together a team!

He got Ramirez because he DID HIS HOMEWORK. Name another team that was hot after Ramirez at that time? If other teams knew ARam would be a legit MVP candidate, don't you think other teams would have made an offer for Ramirez. Him getting ARam wasn't lucky, he bought low, like a good businessman. Plus don't forget Hendry was a head coach (Creighton University) at one point in his career, so maybe he coaching part of his personality felt he could help Ramirez.

I'm sorry, YES Hendry has made mistakes, but contrary to popular belief Hendry isn't a GOD. Would he like to upgrade the bullpen.....who wouldn't? Would he like to get a leadoff man....again who wouldn't? Bullpen help is such a yr-to-yr basis, you don't if a reliever is going to be good from yr to yr. Finding quality bullpen help is not easiest to do, considering there is ah.............29 other teams DOING THE SAME THING. On the leadoff guy...name a leadoff guy who is available, that a team isn't asking for the moon for? You can't blame Hendry, entirely, for something he can't control.

But I do agree, if Baker is fire---which I believe he will but it will mutally agreed upon---then the pressure will be on Hendry to build a championship caliber team for 06.

If you want to hate on Hendry....go for it, I can't tell you not to (same to you dalgreen), but you would be misplacing you haterade.

Yeah, and how exactly did they fare against our pitchers this series? Exactly.

I think we're saying the same thing. I just saw no purpose when you need bullpen help of having two guys, neither of whom can go two days in a row (until today), being brought up. Let Williamson get more work in the minors until he's able to go two straight days. Without Wood starting, you really could only look at Z and Prior consistently getting into the seventh or eighth. Meaning you would likely have to burn some of your worst bullpen guys.

who put this rotting pile of dung together as a team? jim hendry....

we were "this close" to the series and he added nothing and made more holes in the outfield and bullpen and hasn't filled them...

call it what you want but if you spend 100 mil for a team and it is battling pittsburgh for last and not st louis for first-YOU DID NOT DO YOUR JOB

Novoa hasn't pitched in 2 days, Wood 1, Rusch 1. Between those three and Dempster, I'm sure we could have gotten 3 innings.

actually after being "this close" to the series, he made a ton of additions (2003->2004). AFter the complete failure of that team down the stretch, he didn't add, but subtracted (2004->2005).

Here is the definition of maling it in. Eric Milton had retired FIFTEEN staight batters before Nomar's single.

how can a guy with a 301 baa possibly do that? he averages giving up over

roughly 14 hits per 9 innings....can't the jaxx do this much?

I think we can all agree that this has been a major clusterduck... and in the end, the fans have no say as to who should stay or go.

DISGUSTING!!!!!

Barrett's 9 pitch plate appearance was nearly 10% of all pitches thrown by Milton (92).
