Yes, I'm a newbie so my opinion on this will probably draw some laughs. However, the Cubs have 49 games left and currently sit 6.5 back. They also have 10 games left against Houston, with the final four games of the season in Houston. I know the Cubs have looked dead and played like it the last week but you can't just give up on the season on August 10th when you are 6.5 back. I know the Cubs need to jump a bunch of teams as well but it can be done. If the Cubs are within 3.5 of the lead on September 1st they will most certainly be alive. The oh whoa as me attitude that Baker keeps bringing to the park on a daily basis has found it's way into the players heads. I'm not giving up yet and I have to question the players and organizations heart if they are throwing in the towel this soon. I'm fully aware that this team is a joke right now and have shown no ability to suggest they can turn it around but this is baseball and anything can happen. The 2004 Astros did it and they were in far worse position then the Cubs were. As a matter of fact, I think they fell 7.5 back as late as the 3rd week of August after the Cubs drubbed them in game one of a four game series at Wrigley. The Astros looked dead and were written off by every media outlet and even their own fans. After that game, we all know what happened. I might be on a ship by myself here and that's ok but I'm not giving up yet. I refuse to do it and someone should remind the Cubs that they can't give up as well. I'm frustated, I'm tired of what I see and I'm sick of this team right now. However, I'm not giving up yet.
