Blueheart, no offense, but you have ZERO idea what happened in the dugout. So its prolly best if you quit assuming what happened, and just wait until it comes out in the papers.

Now that it appears the the Cubs season is in fact over, who will you guys follow, if anyone, the rest of the way? I'll be rooting for my second favorite team, our brother in misery to the east, the Red Sox. As much as I respect the way the White Sox are playing right now, there's no way I can root for them.

(This isn't to say that I won't be pulling for the Cubs, I just won't give the team nearly as much time/energy since they clearly don't deserve it.)

i'll be rooting for the Bears.

At least you have a distraction. I don't really care about football, so I'm on this ship until it sinks.

Wow, Pat and Ron really giving it to the Cubs, but there are saying nothing that isn't true.

What are they saying? I don't have the radio on.

They said that our entire offense was slumping together. And that we couldnt even score runs against below avg pitchers. They also mentioned that our defense has been horrible and if we have another losing streak like this one "That will be the end of the 2005 Chicago Cubs" (Pat).

"another" streak? I would argue this is the end of the 2005 Chicago Cubs.

And how is what you said any different than what Pat and Ron were quoted as saying?

I thought the 8 games streak was nearly the end, but then they won quite a few. This looks almost worse than that streak, IMO. We are losing to worse teams, The offense is gone, the defense is gone, Dusty's managing is worse than ever, the fundamentals are as bad as I've ever seen, Derrek is hurting....it's a complete mess.

Come on, did you guys actually think we would get swept by the Mets? I sure as heck didn't. THings are that bad right now.

Isn't that pretty much what I said?

I am pretty sure that the papers will say he left with a tight back but I am not sure what that will prove.

This offense has done nothing meaningful since Game 2 of the most recent Reds' series nearly a month ago.

You can say that again.

Man this is just painful to watch. Getting swept by the Mets is just plain horrible. I need to stop watching, but can't. It's kind of like a wreck on the road that you really shouldn't stare at, but you can't look away. Or you know your not suppose to stare directly at the sun, but you still do.

Sigh, I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue...

You know it's getting bad when longtime, usually calm posters are screaming bloody murder for Dusty's head.

If Bruce Miles is lurking, hopefully he'll continue to take note and apply public pressure to get rid of Dusty.

What possible harm could it do the long term health of the franchise to can him now?

I disagree. To say I have "zero" idea is to make an excuse for what we saw. I'm not the only person here who saw it and immediately thought (and posted) what they saw. Miller and Morgan also mentioned it, on air, so I know it will come up again and Dusty's excuse looked so transparent.. I love the team and the guy but I'm not going to make excuses for him. Zambrano has proven that he's capable of actions like this.

Yeah, even when the Cubs had no talent and lost 90+, I would watch every minute of televised Cubs baseball I could. Why, I don't know. I guess I just love the team too much for my own good.

How many games is that, Fred?

I'm as disapointed with the play, the coaching and the management of this team as anybody but you know what i'm going to do? I'm going to go to the game Tuesday and I'm going to root for the Cub's that day and for the rest of the year. I'm not going to hope they lose, I'm not going to boo because it hasn't been proven to improve anyones play and I'm not going to pick another team to root for. I might be naive and I'm not trying to offend anybody but I get sick of the negativism and deafeatism. I started rooting for the Cubs when I was 10 years old in 1974 and the sucked them but I have rooted for them every year since.......ok - I'll calm down now. Sorry

Okay, somebody tell me the full story please.

I know Z walked off. Just give me the facts we no with no opinion involved (i.e. he's a crybaby, he is awesome for doing it)

Anyone??

I'll keep watching this disaster, while devoting more energy to rooting for the destruction of the Astros and White Sox, both of which are set for a beautiful implosion in their respective LDS IMHO.

I haven't said anything too negative all year, but this crap needs to stop.

Send a msg and fire that loser. Revamp the offense next season (sign Damon, sign whomever) and let's start over.

Screw it. Lets see how badly the Cubs can get beat tonight.

If they want to play like clowns, then don't be upset when Cub fans treat their games like a Circus.

As tough as it is to stomach, this is one of two things I hoped would happen about this time of the 2005 season. I hoped we'd either put it all together and really go on a tear to get into the playoffs on a high note and maybe have a chance, or......

tank to the bottom so Hendry and the organization have no choice but to make some extensive changes next season to their poorly organized team.

The one thing that would kill me as a Cubs fan would be to see us limp / back into / slip etc... into the wild card hunt and give the organization just enough leverage to tell the fans that the Cubs are "this" close to being WS winners and not do anything useful in the offseason.

As a real fan, I hate that it's going this way, but if we can't get our crap together and go on a run, I'd rather we end like this so maybe 2006 will look different for us all.
