What makes you think I'm old now that you know I'm a woman? I get upset up with the Cubs daily but I don't understand having no optimism. This team is 2.5 years removed from 90+ losses now all of a sudden the fans act like every little thing must be right. You can "bitch" all you like on bad plays but lets not live and die on every pitch.

Someone's being a wee bit sensitive -- wait am I being sexist there? I thought you were old cause I thought I saw you post something in a thread about how you had been a fan ___ so many years and so forth.

I CAN BE PESSIMISTIC WHEN THEY HAVENT WON IN 100 YEARS!

Yes, Im freakin shouting. I dont like losing whether Im actually involved or not. Thats why I and others have been successful in sports. You may be satisfied with .500. Im not.

Whatever, you are not the only long suffering fan. It just gets aggravating to see the constant nay saying. I have eyes and I see all the flaws. You were advocating that we all turn off the game. If you hate the team that much its best not to watch, you'll be happier. This team is far from perfect but they still have a chance to win.

this is fricken maddening.

not only Williams failure to cover, but before the game, I heard Dusty on the pregame with Santo. he talked about how they are facing a guy who is effectively wild. so they have a game plan to be patient and take alot of pitches.

so what do we see? we see Lee swing at two balls and K. we see Burnitz swing at two balls and pop up. we see Aram go out of the strikezone and K. we see Walker with a three pitch AB (one very generous called strike) and flyout on a ball. we see Neifi with a two pitch at bat flyout on a pitch over his head.

Baker blows, but sometimes your team has to execute a game plan, and tonight, it's like they aren't even trying.

allow me to iterate that the game plan was to take alot of pitches and work deep counts.

three first pitch swings.

For those of us without CSN, please explain what happened. Thank you.

neifi hit a chopper straight over the pitcher and high enough that there was no play

Actually, I think the optimism over a .500 team is aggravating.

I think "advocating" is kind of a strong word. I wasnt seriously saying it because, I know for a fact, that people here are obsessed and would never turn off the game even if it was something like 10-0 and the Cubs made 5 errors.

But, whatever, the issue is done with me.

allow me to add, I'm happy to have the bases juiced, but they were three scratch hits achieved after failing to execute the game plan.

Barrett hacks at a ball.

Neifi hit a chopper up the middle, he probably would've been out at 1st but it hit the 2nd base bag and took a weird hop.

That was one first pitch that I would have liked to see him swing at.

Not so much the second one...

Here's Dusty's strategy "Swing early and often dude, go get 'em!!"

Have you considered that the batters are impatient? If Dusty said the game plan was to be patient, he probably told the players to be patient, but no one can get blood from a rock.
