But then again, how hot can you be if you haven't faced live pitching in 3-4 days.

I think it's time you changed your sig. Somehow I doubt you'd still be that thrilled if Hollandsworth batted second.

I still don't understand why Murton couldn't pinch hit. So what if he's a righty

Agreed. That was a great opportunity to have a big inning, no reason not to have someone as hot as Murton up there.

He didn't look so hot last time Dusty let him bat with the bases loaded.

yes, he can, but aside from Rich Hill in Milwaukee, I don't think Dusty has let a reliever go more than two innings the entire year.

yet another aspect of Dusty's complete inability to manage a pitching staff.

Yeah, but Glendon's been stretched out this season and can be called upon at any time for long relief duty. I could see Dusty using him for 3 innings if he keeps this up.

hopefully, but there have been many many times where Dusty could have used either Rusch or Mitre for a long stretch, but has failed to do so, choosing instead to wear out the pen. the only way Glendon goes three is if the Cubs offense fails to get down to his slot in the batting order.

so there's a strong possiblity Glendon goes three tonight.

Heh, good point. Same could be said for Macias though.

one thing about this bad offensive stretch, many many atem balls.

Burnitz, Lee and Hairston with first pitch hacks this inning.

this is the players folks, not Dusty.

this team has an amazing propensity to swing at balls and look at strikes.

Burnitz is sucking rocks lately (game winning hit aside)

I hope Burnitz isn't re-signed, hes been average offensively for a corner OF.

He's been better than we hoped when we signed him. He's just been in a slump recently. For an "old happy cub fan" you're sure negative.

Even that game winning sac fly was pretty weak. They were darn lucky to have Cedeno beat the throw.

Yes. The players have to stop swinging away on everything, but it's a contagious approach that the cubs have not put s stop to all year. It may be too late at this point in the year with us needing to catch up in the wildcard, but this is the kind of stuff that when it happens early in the year, the players get benched, etc. until they get the point that the approach is not tolerated. Problem is that the Cubs have tolerated it all year, that includes Baker. A little discipline would help Baker, but he tries to be a well liked players' manager.

Why should I be positive, other then it being more healthy?

Theres absolutely no reason to be positive about our baseball team. Once we get back all the men on Friday, I'd love to see Hendry/Baker's next excuse for the Cubs sucking rocks.

Nomar just isn't the end all answer like people think it is. Our pitching hasen't been good at all, either has the offense. We need one of the two to be clicking.

just an observation...

Lieberthal is giving away pitch location unchecked. Painfully obvious what pitch is coming to those at home.

This is absolutely the WORST coached team I have EVER seen.

psst... take a peek back during the windup...
