  1. What does Milwaukee need? I'd love to trade for Geoff Jenkins, although I doubt Milwaukee would trade to a division rival.
  2. The Cubs haven't lost a game Dempster has come in to close. Even if we had a closer with a WHIP below 1, the odds of pitching a perfect inning are against him. If you look at it in a very simplistic way, if a guy with a .90 WHIP pitched 10 innings, he'd allow a single baserunner in 9 of those innings. Of course this doesn't account for times when the pitcher would allow more than 1 baserunner an inning, errors, or other factors. That's as simple as I could lay it out, and don't expect this post to stand up under heavy duty statistical scrutiny.
  3. Let's DFA him. He's garbage. Stupid Prior. He's the only pitcher whose curve ball doesn't really break in the high altitude.  This year, I don't think his curveball would break if he was pitching in the center of the earth.
  4. 49 pitches through TWO? You suck, Prior. Looks like we're going to have to use that 12 man pen this entire series.
  5. Wow, Mark. You're absolutely terrible this year.
  6. Those numbers sound a lot like the numbers people were pencilling in for Bobby Hill before 2003. I like Ronnie, but it wouldn't be pessimistic to expect anything more than .260/.300/.380.
  7. No kidding. But that's obviously no guarantee that they'll perform exactly the same this year if they make it that far.
  8. Please, give it up. Chris Carpenter isn't going to all of a sudden forget how to pitch in the playoffs. Just because Pujols and Edmonds didn't play well in the WS last year doesn't mean history will repeat itself. Remember when everyone said Barry Bonds was a playoff choker? He hit almost .500 in the World Series. There is no "proof" the Cardinals will choke in the playoffs.

Now that I'm older, I'd probably smash everything in my room if that happened today.
  10. The Cubs are responsible for one of those other times, I believe. I think it was 1991, Andre Dawson hit a grand slam in the 10th inning at Pittsburgh and our crappy relief pitching came in the bottom half of the 10th and gave up 5 runs and lost. They showed the game on ESPN a while ago. Can anyone verify this?
  11. This is THE WORST OFFENSE IN MAJOR LEAGUE BASBALL!!! You guys SUCK.
  12. AHH CRAP WHY CAN'T ANY OF THESE LOUSY PITCHERS DO ANYTHING RIGHT??
  13. bump. please observe the game instead of using the boxscore to assess how Glendon Rusch has pitched. Yeah, 10 hits and 5 runs in 3+ innings certainly isn't Glendon's fault. I want results! what part about "please observe the game instead of using the boxscore to assess how Glendon Rusch has pitched" did you not understand? He pitched poorly. Poor control, then left a hanger up to some bum. I don't know how many people will believe that 5 runs in 3 2/3 innings is anything but a horrible pitching performance.
  14. Dude, don't disrespect Horatio Sanz........ even he could have gotten a bloop single off of Rusch tonight. But Horatio sucks at comedy like Humberto sucks at baseball.
  15. Thanks for the intelligent imput. I love the in depth analysis you provided. Dude, the game thread isn't for intelligent "imput." It's for knee-jerk reactions and venting, like you'd hear at a game.
  16. YOU SUCK RUSCH YOU HAVEN'T GOTTEN ANYONE OUT EXCEPT HORATION SANZ AND WENDY RODRIGUEZ.
  17. bump. please observe the game instead of using the boxscore to assess how Glendon Rusch has pitched. Yeah, 10 hits and 5 runs in 3+ innings certainly isn't Glendon's fault. I want results!
  18. That pathetic offense is winning the Wild Card, aren't they? Give Houston props. Their pitching is amazing, however, their offense is not deserving of any "proper respect."
  19. You're pathetic Glendon. Five runs to the worst offense in baseball is absolutely horrific.
  20. Please tell me Rusch isn't under contract after this year.
  21. Kids crying in the LLWS.. it's a yearly tradition.
  22. Wow, Rusch can't get anyone out except the 7-8-9 hitters. Get the bullpen up.
  23. I hate Burnitz so much. I still can't believe he only has 56 RBI. Corey Patterson put up those type of numbers last year.
