  1. That's an botched poopyface of a lineup if I've ever seen one.
  2. Look at the outfield. We have one decent leadoff hitter, a crappy slappy centerfielder who's not tall enough to ride rollercoasters, and an all-or-nothing right fielder who's more than capable of hitting below .210 the rest of the year. This team is not good because Jim Hendry made it this way. Not because they're underachieving. If Derrek Lee hit his typical .270 the first half, we'd be 15 games under .500, so it's unfortunate in that sense that we had the illusion that they had a chance.
  3. Leadoff double doesn't even move up 1 base. Pathetic performance by our 1-6 hitters, who didn't record one hit this entire game.
  4. Seo's not a rookie. Replace rookie with crappy pitcher and my point still stands.
  5. Seo's not a rookie. Replace rookie with crappy pitcher and my point still stands.
  6. Finally we get that flash in the pan jerk out of the game. Sorry, but a rookie shouldn't have perfect control like he's had today. That was absurd.
  7. A fifth place finish with a 100 million dollar payroll would surely sink Dusty's ship.
  8. It's hard to win when your 1-6 hitters go 0 for the game.
  9. What does Todd Walker think he's going to do with that half-speed uppercut swing on the first pitch? And WHY does he always do it?
  10. Oh, come on. Hollandsworth was rookie of the year 12 years ago. He's awesome. So did Ben Grieve, Eric Hinske, and Jody Gerut. Even Nomar did. And Scott Williamson and Wood. Let's go out and trade for Raul Mondesi, Tim Salmon, and Hideo Nomo, and we'll have a team of future superstars! And Mike Miller of the Memphis Grizzies can throw out the first pitch on opening day.
  11. Cedeno at short, Nomar at 2nd maybe? Cedeno certainly has the better range, and 2nd would be less strenuous on Nomar's body.
  12. This offense is so miserable. How does Burnitz have 55 RBI batting behind Lee? He's going to finish the year with less than 80. That's absolutely horrific for a corner outfielder. Thanks a lot Hendry. Did he really think these guys would produce at an elite level? Todd Hollandsworth, Jeromy Burnitz, and Corey Patterson? I bet their rookie cards are worth less than a nickel combined.
  13. Matt Lawton sucks. Nice to know a player's OBP can drop 100 points just by getting traded to Chicago.
  14. I bet we won't get a single baserunner this inning.
  15. Every inning of Cub baseball is totally excruciating. If we're pitching, we're sure to let at least 2 runners on base, allow a run, and make an error, and when we're up to bat, we're lucky to get a baserunner every 3 innings.
  16. Wagner should be our #1 priority IMO. I'd throw 2/25 at him and laugh all the way to the bank. A pen of Wagner, Williamson, and Dempster would set up a nasty 7-8-9, much like Houston's a few years ago. Then anchor those guys with pitchers like Van Buren, Wellemeyer and Ohman or Novoa and we have a semi-reliable bullpen for once. Hopefully. Unless something goes wrong, which it most certainly will. I'd throw together a package of prospects centered around Wellemeyer or Hill and send them to Cinci ASAP. Dunn's price will be steeper if he's traded mid-season, particularly since it's a contract year and he's likely to go crazy with the bat. I could see Hendry making a move for a guy like Bartolo Colon. This is a pathetic free agent class all around. I wouldn't mind Bartolo for one year, considering this team's dire need for one or two more starters, and the fact that he's a FA after 06 (I believe). EDIT He's signed through 07. There goes that idea.
  17. Brewers up 3-1! 4th place! Woohoo!
  18. Just for the record, I don't want Burnitz back next year.
  19. Is there any hope for a win tomorrow with Maddux? I'm almost hoping he gets shelled and finished with an ERA above 6 so he retires.
  20. Did Nomar get a ball out of the infield tonight?
  21. Sheets has a no-hitter through 5.
  22. Milwaukee beating Philadelphia. Hello 4th place!
  23. why is it we play station to station baseball and everytime someone else gets a hit they move up two bases???????
