Randy Winn has been scratched from this afternoon's lineup and a trade is expected.

We don't know where he's going, but the Yankees have been attached to his name most often

I hope it's not to the Cubs.

Winn sports a pretty decent OBP in a pitcher friendly park. I'd be fine with Hairston platooning with Winn in center. But, I'd also like to see an upgrade in left still.

Winn is definitely headed somewhere. Jeremy Reed was a late scratch as well due to a recent concussion, which puts Willie Bloomquist in center for the Mariners today.

Great for Winn, but he isn't nearly enough of an upgrade to be worth giving up a player for.

Trading for Gerut seems like a bust so far, we're getting more out of him than we were Dubois. Although Ben Grieve was 10 times the pinch hitter Gerut is turning out to be.

Any word on Winn yet?

The Giants have made a late bid for Randy Winn, offering two mid-level prospects, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

A Mariners source told the paper Saturday that there is a 90 percent chance Winn will be dealt before the deadline. The Mariners will likely recall Chris Snelling after Winn goes. Winn could play center and left in San Francisco. Jul. 30 - 7:41 pm et

Either the West is an absolute joke or Sabean is off his rocker.

Sabean doesn't even have a rocker, the rockers belong to Bonds, Alou, Visquel, and the other geezers on the team.

I'd say both is also an acceptable answer.

Stark just got a phone call on BBTN. He said that Winn is going to SF for Torrealba and Foppert.

Huh. Interesting.

Okay...some one explain this to me. Foppert was a highly thought of prospect in '03 and was supposedly getting his velocity back. Torrealba is a decent catcher, but is he REALLY an upgrade over Miguel Olivo?

That's the only thing they can be thinking, is my guess. During the last Cubs series, the commentators in one of the games said of the Giants; "This is a team built to win now. No future involved." And with Bonds this year, they might have been. But now, it's as if Sabean is still trying to, even though there's no realistic chance they'd win the NL, let alone the WS.

Gearing up hoping Bonds will return I reckon. Either way seems like a pretty pointless trade on both ends.
