who starts for the cards tomorrow?

Nobody. They have the day off.

lol, brainfart, who starts for san fran?

Jason Schmidt

Aren't the Cubs facing a team that MIGHT ACTUALLY BE BETTER off using their AAA team? Feliz? Durham? Niekro (who might be a'ight in time)? If Hill---if he is the starter---doesn't go 6 solid innings with atleast 7/8 K's, then I will be severely disappointed in Hill.

Now whoelse can see this situation:

Giants/Cubs tied at 4 going into the bottom of the 8th. SURPRISE call...Alou brings in LaTroy Hawkins to face---my guess---Perez/Blanco/Gerut as pinch-hitter, and he promptly gives up 6 runs?

I absolutely cannot stand Neifi Perez, but that sure feels like a little bit of revenge for all the big HRs hit by crappy Cardinal hitters over the few years against us in the late innings at Busch. didn't Womack hit like all his HRs against the Cubs last year?

Yeah. That's revenge for all those ridiculous years put up by the likes of Womack and Vina

What a series! I was right on top of Perez's HR. Truly a heartbreaker for Cards fans. Nicely done by the Cubs team tonight. Who woulda thunk Perez and Blanco???

It was a good series...congrats are in order. Classic Cards-Cubs series with two extra innings games and another that was a one run game.

I'm not exactly pleased to lose the series...especially like that...but seeing as how Rolen, Sanders, and Molina are all out of commission, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. Maybe I should add Walker to that list...he only played one out of the three games, and he wasn't even able to pinch hit tonight...what's up with that?

Pleasant surprise of the series for me: Rodriguez and Nunez continuing to perform well as everday players during games with a playoff type feel to them...heck, even Mabry and Taguchi. They'll form a nice bench once the starters start getting healthy again.

Biggest disappointments: Well, having four starters out or incapacitated to the point of inneffectiveness seems like the logical choice, but that's just part of baseball. Really, it has to be the relatively sub-par pitching performances from Morris in the second game and the bullpen in the third since both were completely out of character for them this season. Oh, and watching Diaz make any appearance whatsoever. He sucks at calling games, he's worthless at the plate, he can't control the running game, and he can't even hook up with his pitchers when it comes to flashing the signs. It's saying a lot when Mahoney is a better option than him to catch a game.

I'm looking forward to round three in a couple of weeks.

that's the end of the series.

i see you're still a fan.

Nah, Im still pisssed. I just need to know who starts for the Giants cause Im starting a game thread.

tomorrow is Schmidt vs. Hill.

dang we always struggle with Schmidt.

He hasn't been pitching like he did in years past. He's very hittable this year because of injuries.

cubs record in games in which treebeard gives up and leaves to go take a bath after a blown save -- 1-0

hopefully they show the grandslam on sportscenter

Wow. What an exciting series. And an amazing ending.

WOW. I still can't beleive that Grand Slam by Neifi. I'm not gonna complain about him until Nomar comes back.

Man, Vance must be so getting hammered by now, especially with that.

I would have been, but I fly out of St. Louis at 7:30 AM, so I need to avoid the hang over.

And let me just say, the game was awesome. A full roller coaster of emotions. I assumed it was over when Prior gave up three homers in the first. It wasn't a pleasant place to be, that's for sure.

But he settled down and the Cubs clawed back in it. When Ramirez hit the Aramabomb, I was going insane. Then Dempster blew it with two outs in the ninth. Ugh. I was nervous and the Cardinal fans were going wild.

When Barrett struck out, I assumed the game was over. I really didn't expect Neifi to do that...

But the shock was greater, because from our seats, we really couldn't see the rightfield corner...so when he hit the ball, I was watching the firstbase ump....he first motioned fair...so I was like double in corner to take the lead...and then when he raised his hand and motioned homerun, I was dancing in the aisles.

One word to describe that win [Chris Farley voice]Awesome.[/Chris Farley voice.]

Vance, I went up to your section in the middle of the 7th and tried to find you. My husband even yelled your name in the front row. Too bad we didn't get to meet.

Excellent game although I would have rather been where you were sitting. As it was, I was almost directly over Neifi's shot and had a bird's eye view.

It was a great game and we are now even on heartbreak games.

WOW.

First game I've been to since 2003, and I get Blanco and Perez driving in 6 of 8 runs. The crowd reaction after the Ramirez and Perez home runs was amazing. For his contributions to this most stellar of wins, I hereby swear not to speak ill of Neifi....for a week.

you should have heard what me and rocket were saying about you.

Alls well that ends well but, the Dempster walk to Seabol was inexcusable! Everyone and their brother knew once Seabol had two strikes he wasn't going to swing the bat again. Why try to hitting the black with a slider? Just throw it down the middle let Seabol hit it as hard as he could, what was he going to do? Beat you with a two HR with no one on?

That was a great series even with the outcome not going my teams way. I am already looking forward to the next matchup.

Sorry...I didn't hear your husband. I was there wearing a grey Cubs shirt and a blue Cubs BP hat. My wife was next to me in a blue 1980's style pullover.

Where were you guys sitting? I was on the rightfield line in the first section of Loge seats. Section 231 IIRC.
