please, oh, please let me see Dunn in a Cubs uniform this weekend at Busch!!!!! :D

I agree. Any extra fire power...no matter who it ends up being...would really be appreciated before we head into Busch. It would mean the world to this Club (not to mention me)to walk in there and take all three.

Especially at a time when the Cards have had some injury problems....this would provide even MORE offensive security.

Also this would mean Hendry flat out lied on the Score yesterday when he laughed about Patterson trade rumors, and said "He's a Cub" and "we want him to remain a Cub"

Very true - has he flat out lied like this before? Especially if a deal is in the making and in the immediate future?

The originator of this thread is a troll, and the first post fits his pattern. He always reports a rumored high-profile trade involving the Cubs, claims to have a well-placed source who has never been wrong before, and tells the moderators to ban him if he turns out to be wrong. After a while, he comes on, and tells every one who believed him that they're fools. If I remember correctly, we saw a post like this a couple of years ago with Mike Lowell.

I thought it'd be more like Mitre, Rusch and the Cubs' best IF prospect but this deal makes sense too. Especially if the Reds are dealing Junior.

As much potential as Hill has I thought Rusch might interest Cincy more.

Sign BJ Ryan in the offseason and Hendry can get some early Christmas shopping done!

Or save money and re-sign Dempster.

And if this trade goes down, poor Rich Hill (and his HR rate).

Because his walk rate that hes shown in all but the last 26.2 innings still scares the bejesus out of me. I would like to sign him as a set up man, and am loving what he is doing right now, but I'm leary of his sustainability. Although I think his saves/chances stat is going to command him decent money on the market (for less than a year's worth of experience) which is why I think Ryan will also be the better value. Spending 10M on the entire outfield should leave us financially sound to spend the extra money on Ryan.

While I too am not completely sold on Dempster yet, he should come much cheaper than BJ Ryan, which is why I'd prefer Dempster.

BJ Ryan will not be available.

Maybe I didn't really read things correctly but he never said to ban him and he also admitted that his "source" was a low ranking Reds person who would catch the occasional bit of big news before it happened.

the more I think about it - the more this trade makes no sense anyways....

Patterson is at an all time low

Hill and Mitre are not necessarily "top prospects", are they? Granted, I think they're both great pitchers, have a ton of potential, and Im definitely a fan of both, but the Reds have got to be asking for alot more than that for Dunn. They asked Cleveland for C.C. and prospects -which is kinda far off from this trade mentioned.

If this deal doesn't happen in 48 hours, in for ban.

If the mods decide to do that, that's fine, but I am certainly not doing this for a laugh or to get people's hopes up.

His first post says his source usually has access to information and the moderators can ban him if he's wrong.

I think most folks conceded that he laid out the appropriate disclaimers. However, when a member comes on and indicates that they may recognize a pattern in a new poster's rumor, there shouldn't be any surprise if a more skeptical look is taken with respect to the rumor and/or the poster.

I'm not saying the trade will happen, but we all know about Patterson's potential and Mitre And Hill probabily could start for the Reds now. Also, Mitre is a ground ball pitcher and Hill is a strikeout pitcher, both would help in Great America Ballpark.

Hill also gives up a lot of homeruns, which would be bad in the GAB

So does Milton, but the Reds still threw a bunch of money at him.

The Reds have clearly been operating with no sense of reality when it comes to their demands for Adam Dunn. Assuming they've shopped around the league quite a bit already it's well within the realm of possibility they've lowered their asking price to something more reasonable.

As to Hill being a fly ball pitcher, being a fly ball pitcher didn't stop them from signing Eric Milton. Don't assume they're smart enough to have learned their lesson.

i think if the Reds balk on that, we should add Dopirak. We have our 1B for a very long time already in DLee, Dopirak probably would finish off the deal easily. I would like to get Kearns though if we have to send both Hill and Dopirak to Cincy.

For what it's worth, one of the reasons the Reds sent Kearns down is that he and Dunn are a bad influence on each other. I'm not sure having both guys on the same roster is a good idea.

I would add Dopirak and not expect anything from the reds other than Dunn. I don't think Dope will pan out, so if selling him high means we get Dunn, then so be it. If I were to ask for someone extra, it would have been Weathers, but now he's hurt.
