Good news on Derrek. He had an MRI done and it showed nothing wrong. It's just inflammation and it will be up to him on whether or not to play tomorrow night.

It's raining very lightly at the park, but based on the latest radar update, there are some nasty scattered t-storms to the SW that could pose a problem even later.

look at the 'Derrek Lee Injured' thread on Baseball Discussions, i beat ya to it

Also, do you want rookies to come in and face one of the top aces in the game? (at least right handed rookies?)

yeah that dubois kid sure sucked it up against that one dude with 4,000 strikeouts or something. what's his name again? clemens?

If they want to play with more than one delay and late into the night, they could try. Certainly there will be a delay of over an hour if the game was scheduled to start at 6:05 CT.

Maybe it has something to do with the splits against right hand hitters

vs. Left 264 70 19 1 5 27 24 0 49 3 2 .265 .324 .402 .726

vs. Right 209 44 4 1 2 12 9 0 47 1 2 .211 .243 .268 .511

He also does not walk many right handers. Also, do you want rookies to come in and face one of the top aces in the game? (at least right handed rookies?)

welcome to the forums, SanJose! :)

the thing that concerns me is this:

Periods of rain. Rain may be heavy late. Low 71F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80%. Rainfall may reach two inches.

thats a lot of rain...

Severe Tornado warning???

I've never heard of that. I thought there were only Severe thunderstorm watch, severe thunderstorm warning, and then tornado watches and warnings..... huh.

It's what comes after the "Don't wait until you see a pickup truck in the air before you run for cover" warning.

Good. Hopefully this game gets called, Dusty gets fired and we see an actual major league lineup tomorrow. Although, it might be kind of funny to see Smoltz laughing to himself when he faces Neifi Perez and Jose Macias to start the game.

Wow. I was wondering why there were already 6 premium pages before the game even started. Now I see why. What a joke of a lineup. Dusty must have had enough, but he's too stubborn to quit so he has to try and get fired. There are 5 year olds who can put together a better lineup than that.

There are watches for both tornados and severe thunderstorms, and there are warnings. Watches are for a broad region, warnings are for a more localized region (like a county). Tornado warnings are generally issued only when a tornado has been spotted by someone on the ground or the radar shows it.

Looking again, apparently the Atlanta area is only under a watch, but the storms moving towards Atlanta have been given tornado warnings as they traverse through Alabama.

EDIT: For some reason I added the word "severe." You're right, it's just plain tornado warning.

As expected, Dusty said the lineup is because of Smoltz.

what smoltz has some weird pictures of Dusty naked and used them to force Dusty to put out Aramis Ramirez, Todd Walker, and a crappy AAA team? This is what 100 million will buy you.

I seriously remembered thinking awhile back that the lineup couldn't get worse... but I was wrong. What is this? Hey, we're facing a good pitcher so we'll mess with the lineup and put in Jose Macias. Yeah, that'll help... Is it wrong that I hope they lose tonight?

we should just save the time and forefeit. I don't think Prior throwing a no hitter would win this game, it would just guarantee extra innings.

You mean, he's good friends with Smoltz and doesn't want the Cubs to score off him?

Ok--I am with you now boys. I have been a little of a Dusty apologist, but what the heck. I have not been this frusterated witha manager since riggleman kept running Rey Sanchez out there.

I can't understand it--Jerry H must be a complete A-hole or something--that is the only explanation for it. Oh except, Cedeno and Dubois are getting the same treatment.

I am at a loss for words boys and girls :?

Is Rey Sanchez available? I'd take him over Neifi and Macias. In fact, I'd trade both of them for Sanchez.

Oh my God... Macias is starting over Hairston? What a freaking joke. And I'm glad that Corey is starting. Afterall, he's 0-4 against Smoltz in his career - gotta get him those at bats.

Tornados are kinda severe by their very nature. I've never heard of a mild tornado.
