I think they're a good team with some glaring holes that prevent them from being great.  Sounds like a 90-92 win team which is probably where they'll end up.

absolutely, 100% this

They're also incredibly streaky and have been the last couple of seasons (even factoring in that baseball teams/players are inherently streaky).

after a shaky may, they've gone 16-10 in june, 14-10 in july, and up until today are 14-10 in august. they seem streaky because we're cubs sickos who grind through every at bat and 'he had 2 hits yesterday and 0 today' seems streaky. we've been top 2 in offense every month of that stretch, and bottom 8 in pitching. very very elite offense and absolutely terrible pitching has basically been the status quo for most of the season.

Why’d he bring Thornton in, again?

Because Milner wasn't available

(because hes not on the team)

I dont blame him for not taking a swing there but damn

it wouldn't have done anything but it's hard for me to understand the thought process on not challenging there

Alex Bregman will never not be one of the dumbest Baseball players in the league. He hasn’t challenged several pitchers this year when he should have.

he would have lost, it nicked the top of the zone

It was still the time to use it. Frustrating in a 9-4 game with bases loaded. I was being harsh though.

Alex Bregman ranks at the top of ‘not challenging pitches he should have’, of which he has several, which is a stat I am obviously super familiar with for players around the league

Anyone know how Shaw did in Iowa, besides presumably enjoy the lack of any multicultural presence?
