Speaking of the Little League classic, they just announced the Cubs and Jays will be playing in it next year.  First time since I think 2018 for the Cubs.  All I remember about that was Anthony Rizzo sliding down a hill on cardboard.

Trent Thornton's velo has exploded recently?  Ive generally been a skeptic but if he's sitting north of 96 instead of 94 and change....

The pop-up that wasn’t t caught went for a hit. There were no unearned runs. No idea how that ball dropped, but really it was a hard ball for the 3rd baseman to catch. SS didn’t even go after it and I have no idea where Arozarena was, but he wasnt close to the ball.

it did last year, IMO. But this year the Cubs are as good on the road as they are at home. That said, home has advantages.

The Phillies park in particular scares me.  It feels like we never play well there (I know we went 2-1 there this year but they were playing terrible baseball at that point and the one they won was a beatdown), the park is historically a bandbox that allows a lot of HRs and their crowds can give them a pretty strong HFA.  Every AB against Schwarber is going to be absolutely terrifying (though that will be the case at Wrigley too, Babe Schwarber doesn't care about the wind)

If we were looking at a series in like San Diego or Atlanta, I'd feel better about having to play on the road.

-Edged out Seattle in both FIP and wOBA in all 3 games.

-Outscored Seattle 28-13.

-Average MOV 9-4.

I’m happy that the Cubs avoided being swept.

Cubs are 21-24 vs the AL either a +52 run differential and a pythag win record of 28-17. Last year they went 30-18 with a +54.

If only they’d flip that win today to where it’s expected……. they’d be 82-49 with a 76-55 pythag record.

Yep, at the very least they should have taken 2 or 3. To dominate a series and only win 1 of 3 is disappointing.

I didn’t include wRC+ because Fangraphs only makes a park factor adjustment for home teams. Seattle had a 126 vs a 123 despite a 333 vs 347 wOBA gap. Really aggravating series.

Yes, very disappointing - Friday 1-16 with RISP and Saturday blew a 4-2 lead with two out and nobody on.  Just have to win one of those.

Civale really bailed them out yesterday. I know there was talk about him pitching differently as a Cub and him actually being very good. It may have been Bertz who showed some encouraging numbers about Civale. Can anyone who digs into those numbers tell me if he is actually performing well with his underlying numbers justifying what we are seeing or is he Fedde of last year and will soon fail? If he is this guy they have to keep him around. Wouldn’t  mind him taking Rea’s spot next year. Unfortunaly for the Assad fans, if Civale has underlying numbers to back what we are seeing we might not see Assad on the major league team again this year. At the very least, Cabrera will be back. Maybe he is the 14th pitcher when the rosters expand. But we might get Brown too. And now a guy like Thornton isn’t a sure cut either. He is doing well. IMO Rea would now be the first to go, assuming Civale is for real.
