Well, guess what? We suck, but that's OK. Cubs fans are used to their team losing, right? In my game thread debut, we lost 15-5. I believe that is the most runs an opposing team has scored on us this season. But enough about the past. On to the game.

Greg Maddux (7-5, 4.87)

Roman Colon (0-4, 6.30)

We have a 312-game winner nearing the end of his hall of fame career going up against part of the digestive system. That part of the digestive system has a 6.30 ERA this season and 2 career major league victories.

please don't make this Colon kid look like a half decent pitcher. I've never seen the guy pitch, but his numbers are terrible. Just win...i would be more then happy with a split in this series.

Yay, time for the Cubs to get owned by another sucky pitcher. I've lost count of how many times that has happened.

We're really sucking right now. We need to win this game, period. If Corey plays over Hairston, I will throw sharp objects.

judging by Baker's reaction after he hit into the DP, i have a hard time believing that he'll start Patterson tomorrow.

I think Maddux has been hanging around Dempster, first the Buehrle comment and now this gem..

Told that Smoltz was trying to set up a mano-a-mano confrontation, Maddux chuckled.

"Imagine that," Maddux said. "He just didn't want to face [Mark] Prior."

Does this make sense to anybody....

Baker said Patterson has had a few more at-bats against Smoltz than Jerry Hairston, who has one at-bat lifetime against the Braves' right-hander. Patterson is 0-for-4 against Smoltz.

So three more at bats where he didn't do anything against him gives Patterson an advantage

Does anybody know what time the gates open? My friend said he thought it was 5:00 but he wasn't sure.

I'm pretty sure it's always 2 hours before gametime. So that would be 4:35 CT.

By the way, Colon has an 6+ ERA. Doesn't that pretty much guarantee that he'll take a no-hitter into the 6th or 7th inning?

I just don't get it, if I was Hairston, I would be furious. I mean the guys been great at leadoff. If Corey must play put him in LF. Geezus

Perez is going to go 0 for 5 anyway and next week when we come back to Wrigley, the fans will give him a free pass unlike they give Corey.

Dusty = moron. Boy do i hate this lineup. START HAIRSTON EVERY GAME!!!
