This lineup tonight, playing Patterson, says to me that winning is not Baker' main objective, if it were, well, we know there are many more logical choices. I really starting to believe Baker philosophy is one which views winning as a by product of happy team or one in which players like their manager or something along those lines. We certainly know what his philosophy isn't - putting players in a position which maximizes their chances of success.

This is incredible...Why is Patterson batting in front of Hanks White? Hanks more productive than Corey..

Right.

Corey: .235/.273/.386/.659

Hank White: .157/.178/.257/.435

Blanco had a better June...

And on a different note... as I look at Blanco's stats, MLB.com says that his average in June was .200 and his OBP was .190... is it even possible for an OBP to be lower than a player's average??

So how long will Baker continue to stay with Neifi at the top of the order? Perez has already proven over the period of a month or so that he can't get on base leading off.

I realize that if Neifi goes 5-5 tonight with 5 HRs and a bunch of RBI that some may want to do the "See, batting Neifi at leadoff was a great idea" thing. Regardless of how he plays, making the decision to bat him leadoff with the way he has been playing is a terrible idea, plain and simple.

Notes on the Ronny Cedeno interview (who doesn't sound at all like he looks):

-Tries to stick with working on the basics every day.

-Was told before they wanted him to play every day.

-Was told he was going to be called up because he was doing a great job.

-Likes to just relax and stay back at the plate.

-Said he can play short, second, and third.

-He's just trying to help the team and knows he can play every day. Just wants to work hard for Dusty because he knows he likes that.

On a positive note...our bench looks pretty good with Hairston, Cedeno, Dubois on it. Right? :?
