Someone wrote this up for Royals Keep, and it mentions something from (groan) Jim Bowden. He offers up both Shaw and Alcantara for Wacha, which even this Royals writer thinks is an overpay.

But what would you give up for Wacha?

ROYALSKEEP.COM

Three possible landing spots for the Royals' starting pitcher at a deadline where starting pitching will be in demand (isn't it always?).

This was talked about on another thread , but no . Even though I am not that high on Shaw, I think his former top prospect status , team control and versatility , should get you a better pitcher and one with more control than Wacha .

I don’t care much about Alcantara and he  should have been traded a long time ago , but even him I would hesitate for Wacha . I rather include Alcantara as a secondary for a younger pitcher

I also would rather see Alcantara as a 2nd piece of a bigger deal. But IMO he has to go this deadline. And if the best I could do for him is Wacha, I think I would do it. I actually think Wacha has another year after this one if the team wants him.

He's one of those, "Eh, whatever, sure." trade targets that moves the needle on the regular season win total, but won't help much come playoff time (unless catastrophic injuries hit).

Alcantara straight up for Wacha seems like a mild underpay, so something like Alcantara + Lottery Ticket makes sense to me.
