Anyone not having PCA as a top 3-5 MVP is an idiot. Full stop. His excuse was even worse. He said did 58 games PCA was one of the worst players in the team. Excuse me! His WAR was 35th in baseball after 58 games, even without hitting well. If people want to put Ohtani, Alveraz and Wood in the concession with him, fine. But how you can fon8 deep with guys like Lopez, Dingler, Vargas and any other ridiculous person he added, is beyond stupid.

If the season ended today Ohtani, wins and PCA is comfortably in second place. The only thing that matters is how Much war you accumulated, not when you accumulated it. It makes no difference whether the Cubs had a 20-3 stretch followed up with a 7-22 or a 12-11 followed by a 15-14. They’d still Be 54-42. The logic is dumb.

Ever since I spent so much time harping about how bad the Cubs need a superstar and top 5 player earlier in the year, PCA has turned into one of the 5 best players in the entire sport.  The impact that "that guy" can have on the entire team is playing out in front of our eyes.

He's pretty much the difference between the Cubs being a .500 team and the Cubs hosting 2 or 3 playoff games.  The difference between a quick playoff exit and a team that actually has a chance to win the WS.

That wasn’t really your argument. You suggested they didn’t have any and they had to add one. Specifically, Alvarez. Most people who argued with you said they may have one. If the Cubs were going to turn it around one would show himself. Cubs have several guys on their team that could have and still might show themselves to be stars. Seiya currently isn’t far off. I don’t think anyone suggested the Cubs were good enough if players kept playing like they were playing. The argument against your comment was always that if the Cubs players played to the back of their baseball card they had enough offense. That is still the case. Currently PCA is over performing. But he is 24, so maybe this is who he is. But even if he drops a little, if Busch, Hoerner, Bregman, Happ and Swanson all play like they are capable of playing, as I and many have said often, they have enough offense. Your comment right now appears to be moving the goal post to somehow suggest you were right about them needing a star. And that wasn’t the actual discussion. Your argument was clearly that the Cubs didn’t have enough offense and had to add a bat, while everyone else said they need pitching and then more pitching. That was correct then and still correct today

Not moving the goal posts, I was wrong about some of the things I said.  But even at their best, I don't think it hurts to upgrade one of the corner OF spots (in the off-season).  You are right though that pitching is the priority until then.

What PCA has done is really remarkable.  I admit that I didn't see his breakout coming or that this was the back of his baseball card.  I thought he'd creep towards an .800 OPS and take a step forward - but he has become a bonafide megastar and possibly a HOFer if he keeps playing like this.

Should instantly be fired for this level of stupidity. 9 players mentioned, no PCA/Witt, but guys like Miguel Vargas are. Bryce Harper and his 1.7 fWAR is listed.

Why are people surprised about Amsingers' opinion? The dude is from St. Louis, he produced Cardinals games for a local St. Louis radio for 2 years and is a known Cardinal fan. He knew what he was doing. He is definitely trolling Cubs fans.

Cool. Originally it sounded like you were suggesting that PCA becoming the superstar proved your original point that they needed to trade for one to help the offense. I see that isn’t the case. You are right, they needed an offensive push, but I think many felt they had that in someone on the team. Right now it is PCA. But I think others will step up in the second half. I am also not going to argue with you regarding needing an offensive presence in the corner outfield spot next year. I’m not sure it needs to be more than what I believe Seiya can give them, but I agree I don’t want to go with Shaw and a minor league guy next year either. I would be happy if Seiya came back and even fine if it was Happ instead, depending on the length of the contract. They don’t need more, they just don’t want to regress, IMO. Get pitching and this team can win.

Note to self: any rumor Levine posts from now on out is likely nonsense and a plant from Jed/Carter to get him back.

You joke but I mean the only thing this guy brings to the table is access, so you do have to wonder

Absolutely. When I said "it may be his last" I really wonder if that was it for Bruce. He isn't an on-air guy, and his one thing has been to be a source. Who's going to trust him now? He's toxic.

I really wouldn't be surprised to see him retire from the journalism game at the end of the year. He's at an age it makes sense and an access point that probably has to be as small it can be.

Regular reminder that all offenses streak and slump, even the good ones.  You just don't notice because you don't watch those teams every day

Braves have had a really rough go. Bottom 5 in ERA in June through ASB as well. They're a team much like the Cubs who have had a ton of pitching issues and the offense was helping cover it up.
