Thought counsel would have let him finish the inning considering he was rested and our pen sucks,

Why?? Someone please help this make sense. Take Peterson out with what, 70 pitches? Facing Contreras? He could have gone 7

”save the arms” strategy hasn’t faired too well for them. I just don’t get Counsell

Man - I seriously don’t get his thinking. Win or lose - what sense does that make? 69 pitches? Lol

Is Counsell scared of SP injuries now?

Peterson has been a starter all season lol - why be scared of anything. Win games.

He has been in the pen lately. Maybe he isn’t stretched out as much as he would like. This is one of those cases where I believe the manager knows better than we do. Regardless of how it plays out, maybe Peterson was done at 70.

Peterson has not been a starter all season. He wasn’t in the Mets rotation at the time of the trade.

That's what I meant.  I thought Peterson would pitch to the 7th.

I stand corrected - I thought he was in their rotation the whole time

Peterson has only three starts since May 4th. He's not fully stretched out because the Mets have been bouncing him between the rotation and the pen.

I appreciate you and @Rcal10 for the explanation. I was under the impression he was in the Mets rotation the whole time.
He was humming along, so it was shocking to see him pulled out after 5.2 innings

All good. I would have liked to see him finish that inning. But I figured he was only good for 70-80 pitches.
