damnit. He had Reynolds in an 0-2 count

Yeah, that was a really bad pitch, something that Bregman would take.😁

No. But how about Luis Severino and Robbie Ray?

Counsell always leaves Rea in 1 inning too long and the outcome is always predictable

He tries to stretch all his starter into getting that extra inning,  or outs all too often

Well, his pitch count was low, and he didn't give up a run, until that inning.  I won't blame Counsell for that.

He was at 84 pitches going into that inning, and that's already 84 pitches too many.  They have a rested bullpen.  Why does he always make the same mistake?

Yeah, you can say that, because we already know what happened in the 6th.😄  Rea walked a few, but he allowed only a few hits, before that HR.

but he's still Collin Rea and smart managers don't let mediocre pitchers see a lineup for the 3rd or 4th time.  They should have taken his 5 solid innings and turned it over to the bullpen.  Now it's a dog fight.

A fun thing to do is to wait until pitchers give up runs, as they occasionally tend to do, and then come on here and be like ‘well I simply would have had someone else pitch that inning’

Another fun thing to do is to pretend Collin Rea is a good pitcher who should see a lineup for the 3rd time and then refuse to criticize the overpaid manager who makes the same mistake in seemingly every game

He had a shutout through 5. And only 70 ish pitches. How does he take him out?

Because he's Collin Rea

In any event he could have taken him out after the HR, could have taken him out before the walk.  If you dispute that Rea shouldn't have been taken out after 5 then fine, there were 2 opportunities to take him out before the 2nd run

Colin Rea sucks. The bullpen pitchers also suck. There’s only so many of them and four of them pitched yesterday and we don’t get a day off before the next series. You need to try and steal innings when you can.

anyways, the guy that should have been cut just erased all the damage from the terrible managing blunder
