Rizzo, Ross starting blatant (and probably successful) nostalgia-bait podcast about 2016 Cubs

There's a video trailer out and it looks like they're going to be talking to just about everybody - Lester, Maddon, Schwarber, Fowler, Bryant, Lackey, Arrieta, even guys we might not want to see like Addison Russell.

It's blatant nostalgia bait and I will be listening to every single episode.

Maddon trying to redefine a dirty inning to justify when he brought Lester in is just comical.

that second paragraph makes no sense

Yeah, not sure about that. Chapman pitched the 8th and 9th and then the rain delay occurred.

I  get why FOX would have love to suspend the game and start it back up the next night but I do not see a scenario in which both Chicago and Cleveland would have agreed to it.

Wouldn’t it have been Manfred’s decision alone?

We're heading toward being as pathetic as Bears' fans. Sitting around talking about stuff from a decade ago because nothing good has happened since.

Technically, once the game starts it's in the hands of the umpires.  They probably get overridden when it comes to World Series Game 7 if it comes down to it, but that's the way it normally works.

Had that happened, I probably would have died that night

No kidding. In response to some of the questions above. Theo said he met with Manfred and the Indians GM about the decision to continue to play. The part about Chapman was he was the current pitcher when the rain delay occurred so you technically could have put him back out there again if the game was delayed a day. He said that would have been the only brightside of delaying it.

I don’t agree with Theo’s thinking there. Chapman was toast. If they resumed the next day and he took the mound in the 10th, I don’t think things end well.

Yeah but everyone knew he was toast going into the 9th too. Those three outs were maybe the most terrifying moments of my life. The Circle of Trust was just him at that point.

The way every single one of these guys talks about Chapman, it is clear that they all respect the hell out of him.  We know about his issues off the field that made the trade feel a little dirty, but he was obviously a good teammate and exactly what the Cubs needed in 2016.  Is he also what they need in 2026?
