No, that wasn’t my takeaway from the game. I was responding to a post about how many sacks he’s taken this season compared to last. I’m not unhappy in the slightest about this season. Well, I’m pissed about losing to the Packers, but I’m having a blast. And I still don’t think my original post was that negative at all. People are reading too much into one slightly negative thing I said about Caleb thinking I hate him or something which couldn’t be farther from the truth.

My concern wasn't that you said something negative about Caleb. It was that you said something factually incorrect. He doesn't "take too many sacks when he has wide open receivers", because he doesn't take too many sacks in general.

Any sack with wide open receivers is too many but I’m not continuing anymore with this discussion. My opinion isn’t shared by others here. That’s fine. I don’t expect everyone to agree. But overall I’m very happy with the QB situation.

"any sack with open WRs is too many"......for a perfect QB, which is the point I made earlier. Caleb is not a perfect QB, because that doesn't exist.

If I were a nfl QB I would simply throw to the most open receiver who gave me the most optimal EPA result every time and not take sacks.

I would occasionally take sack or check down just to keep the opposition on their toes and the game more interesting for viewers

Because I can't help myself when it comes to drafts and because Jed sure as hell isn't going to give me anything to talk about, I wonder where the Bears go in the draft. Edge is a given, but after that safety might be the next biggest need unless they're going to re-sign Byard. Then you have DL and CB which both probably need to be addressed. Man, unless there's just a no doubt BPA, they might not draft a single offensive player.

There are currently no safeties under contract for 2026.

I hope they take an OL, a RB and 5 defense players.  Have to keep up the development of offensive lineman, I'd take one in every draft.

Absolutely 100% agree, especially when you are relying so heavily on an expensive old interior line. All three of those guys will have to be replaced within year one of Caleb’s next contract. And you aren’t getting that in free agency

however, they don’t have a 4th or 6th so probably need defense first three and get your OL with 5 or 7

Appears they have 7 picks, 1-5 and two in the 7th:

Spotrac was the first thing that came up for me and I misread the 4th from Rams.

but they don’t have the second 7th listed from eagles

I understand the impulse of Bears fans to get into offseason/draft talk by this time of the season, but not this season!  We still get to enjoy what's happening now!  I'll wait on the offseason talk till the offseason this year thank you very much.

Burden and Odunze didn't practice today.  I'm concerned about our receivers this week.

I believe there's a strong possibility Odunze is done for the regular season, Burden appears to trending to missing Saturday' game as well.  Thankfully, there's still DJ, Loveland and Kmet, who knows, maybe, Zaccheaus will benefit from all the attention DJ and Loveland are sure to get.  Provided, of course, he catches his targets which, is not a given with Zaccheaus.  It'd be truly awesome if a Bears' scrub, like Zaccheaus, torches the Packers.  Over the years how many times have the Bears been victimized by Packer scrubs?  Hell, it happen two weeks ago with Bo Melton.

Yeah, seems like Rome is done. Can't put him on IR though or he's out for 1 playoff game (if they don't get a bye). My original thought was maybe bring him back for the SF game next week since the weather may be a bit warmer and easier to deal w/ his foot issue. But it's not like SF is THAT much warmer and it goes right back to cold weather Week 18, so that would be pointless.

Not having Burden this week would really suck, a lot.

Duvernay has gotten a bit of time here and there with Rome out.  I'd imagine he'd get quite a few more reps if Burden is out.

Yeah, he's not very good, but seems to be the best WR at adjusting to scramble drill QB play.
