i can't believe the Caruso trade is working out

This team is moving the ball around like crazy. They are actually quite fun to watch. Vuc actually seems like an asset with Demar and Zach gone. His give and goes and vice versa are working really well with this young group of players. I thought Vuc needed to be gone too, but he's fitting well. Ayo is playing like a man possessed.

Caruso for Giddey was never a terrible idea but they absolutely should have gotten a pick back. I don't care how good Giddey becomes, it was a dumb trade and AK doesn't understand leveraging capital.

I did not have a Vuc revitalization season on my bingo card.  He's playing great and while he still can't really defend the rim, fits perfectly on this team as a Stretch 5.  He's like Jokic out there!

This is fun and I think sustainable.  I can't wait to see it when Coby and Collins come back.  They have like 11-12 quality NBA players.  I think they have enough cap space to bring everyone back if they want, too.

Problem is, while this team is fun, they're nowhere close to good enough to win a title, so they've either got to find a way to swing a trade for a star or sign one in free agency... and I wouldn't bet on either of those things happening. And this is of course appears to be a draft with real star power, and they'll end up picking around 17 or whatever

Last years was supposedly too and then AK wanted to earn an extension instead of tanking. That got the Bulls another play-in loss.

Is this remotely true anymore? Like the success of tanking where a top 3 pick vaults the team to a championship is kind of sparse.

What the Bulls have lacked is a desire to do just bulk asset accumulation which has worked very well. But the league is littered with stars picked outside the top 5 and often not truely breaking out until their second contract.

So while I've seen little to see AK is gonna be a build mode /asset accumulation guy, that's a total valid path and is not reliant on this idea of building a core to drop a established star into.

They're playing much better than a mere play-in team. There should be zero regret about cheering for that over a lotto ticket tank. Obviously that may last but if they can be a top 4 seed, I'd absolutely take that over a top lotto finish.

You dont have to acquire stars. Sometimes they develop into them. Look at Reaves, or hell, SGA, and so on.

Giddey is about to elevate his TS into the 60+ range and his PER is way up to 22. He is just 23 years old. We haven't had a facilitator like him, possibly ever. Just surround him with shooters and we should have an extremely high-scoring group.

OKC seems to be more about quantity of picks than quality. To your point,I think the globalization of the game has made drafting way more complicated, so quality players who need developing can be had later.

Why does Giddey have to be the highlight of this team so far? I have a hard time forgetting his past to root for him.

I didn't follow it when it happened, and it's kind of hard to find out exactly what happened. the defenders will say he was 19 and she was 17 with a fake ID, but I don't know if that's how it played out

She was 15.

it looks like initial speculation was that she was 15, and then it changed quickly to a junior in high school. definitely not confirmed 17 like i thought though

maybe imb followed it, since he was on the thunder at the time
